Love Actually star’s Charles Dickens-inspired series finally gets return date confirmed with new first look

After more than a year since its renewal, the second season of The Artful Dodger is finally here, and we now know when it will be released.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster, known for his role in Love Actually, will return as the main character in the new season, and this time he’ll face even bigger challenges than before.

The second season is set to kick off on 10th February 2026, with all episodes dropping as a boxset.

Jack is back, but this time, the Artful Dodger is in serious trouble! He’s wanted by the law – specifically, Inspector Boxer, the new officer in Port Victory – and facing a possible hanging. Even seeing the woman he loves, Lady Belle, could lead to his execution.

I’m completely captivated by Lady Belle! She’s set her sights on becoming a doctor, and she’s not letting anyone – or anything – stop her, even if it means facing real danger. It’s incredibly inspiring, though I’m also worried for her, especially since her personal life is already so complicated.

As Boxer and Jack both try to win Belle’s heart, the clever Fagin pulls Dodger into their riskiest scheme so far, while someone is also committing murders.

Prepare for an exciting new season filled with fresh faces, stunning locations, and even more action, laughs, emotional moments, clever twists, and surprising betrayals.

This series once again draws inspiration from Charles Dickens’ classic story, Oliver Twist. Returning to their roles are Brodie-Sangster and David Thewlis as Fagin, alongside Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox.

Susie Porter returns as Lady Jane Fox, alongside Damien Garvey as Governor Fox and Tim Minchin as Darius Cracksworth. Lucy-Rose Leonard, Nicholas Burton, Kim Gyngell, Luke Carroll, Vivienne Awosoga, Aljin Abella, Brigid Zengeni, and Albert Latailakepa are also reprising their roles.

Season 2 will introduce some new faces, including Luke Bracey (known for playing Elvis) as Inspector Henry Boxer, Jeremy Sims (from Mr Inbetween) as Uncle Dickie, and up-and-coming actor Zac Burgess (Cruel Intentions) as Phineas Golden.

The show was filmed once again in Sydney, Australia. Kylie Watson-Wheeler, a leader at The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand, shared her excitement about the second season, saying it features more romance, adventure, and clever humor, along with some new cast members.

The show is back because it’s been popular with audiences both here and abroad, and features a very talented cast and crew.

We’re thrilled to share compelling Australian stories with a global audience. We’ve also enhanced the production with detailed new costumes and sets to fully immerse viewers in the exciting world of The Artful Dodger.
