Anne Hathaway officially stepped into her pop star persona with her latest transformation.
Anne Hathaway, known for her role in The Princess Diaries, looks dramatically different in the trailer for her new movie, where she plays pop star Mother Mary. The trailer was released on December 2nd.

The movie, coming out in spring 2026, stars Anne as Mother Mary, a pop star who steps away from her tour to reconnect with her longtime friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm (Michaela Coel). She asks Sam to create designs for her return to the stage, but their reunion seems to stir up painful memories from the past.
“Only one of us will be left when this is finished,” Sam stated. Mary responded with a determined, “I understand.”
The film, directed by David Lowery, features Kaia Gerber, Hunter Schafer, and FKA Twigs. Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff created original music for the movie, all of which is performed by Anne, adding to the authentic pop star atmosphere.
