PlayStation Plus subscribers should be aware of a warning regarding one of the newly added games. December 2025’s free games – including LEGO Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and Neon White – are now available. In addition, a new game has been added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog, and Sony advises players to exercise caution when playing it.
Today, the popular western game Red Dead Redemption has been added to the PS Plus Game Catalog. Originally launched on PS3 in 2010, the critically acclaimed open-world title received a PS4 version in 2023. Now, PlayStation 5 owners can enjoy an upgraded version of the game for free. Adding it to PS Plus makes Red Dead Redemption accessible to even more players.
It’s fantastic that Red Dead Redemption is now on PS Plus, but players who already own the game need to be careful. If you have the PS4 version – either as a digital or physical copy – and want the PS5 upgrade, make sure you purchase it directly through the PlayStation Store, not through PS Plus. Claiming the PS5 version via PS Plus will replace your existing game license, meaning you’ll lose your right to the free upgrade, even if you originally bought the game.

The ongoing problem with PlayStation Plus and the PlayStation Store licensing is frustrating users. This error has been happening for years and many players worldwide have complained. While Sony is probably aware of the issue, they haven’t yet found a solution.
If you have a PlayStation Plus subscription and already own Red Dead Redemption, pay close attention! Choosing the wrong option when getting the PS5 version of the game could lead to regret.
