Although we’re still waiting for a release date for Bungie’s Marathon (they promised an update this fall), a recent issue has been settled. Artist Antireal, whose artwork was stolen by a former employee and heavily inspired the game’s look, has announced the problem is now “resolved.”
She announced on Twitter that the issue with the Marathon artwork has been successfully resolved with both Bungie and Sony. It’s still unclear if this resolution includes financial compensation or the complete removal of the artwork, but at least the situation has a positive outcome for someone involved.
Bungie is planning another closed playtest for its new game on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC from December 12th to 15th, limited to North American players. With the playtest happening so soon after The Game Awards, many are speculating about a potential announcement. While a release this year seems improbable, Sony currently anticipates the game will be available by March 31st, 2026.
While we’re working on the latest improvements, you can find details about our previous playtest here, which introduced two new characters: the Medic and the Scav.
I’m happy to share that the issue with the Marathon art has been successfully resolved thanks to a collaborative effort with Bungie and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
