Arc Games and Thekla just announced Order of the Sinking Star, a big narrative puzzle adventure game created by Jonathan Blow, known for his work on Braid and The Witness. The game was revealed at The Game Awards and has been in development for about ten years. It’s currently planned to release on PC in 2026, with other platforms to be announced later.
In Order of the Sinking Star, players enter a bizarre world filled with unique magic, tricky devices, and fearsome creatures. The game features over a thousand carefully designed puzzles. You’ll journey through four different worlds, each with its own special gameplay elements, characters, and rules. But as you progress, these worlds start to connect and combine, creating a complex and interconnected network of challenges.
The game doesn’t follow a straight path, letting players explore, try different things, and solve puzzles at their own speed. According to the creator, it’s his largest and most collaborative project yet, combining the best ideas from many talented puzzle designers. The CEO of Arc Games calls it a bold, new puzzle adventure and says it’s just the beginning of an exciting year for the company.
