Jason Kelce really fumbled when it came to this bedtime story.
Jason Kelce says a personalized copy of the story Pinocchio once really frightened his four-year-old daughter, Elliotte, according to his wife, Kylie Kelce.
Jason, who shares his three children – Wyatt, 6, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, 7 months – with Kylie, mentioned on the December 3rd episode of his podcast, New Heights (co-hosted with his brother Travis Kelce), that the girls often ask him to include their stuffed animals or themselves in the stories he tells.
One evening, Elliotte asked Jason to tell her the story of Pinocchio, but with her stuffed animal, Slothy, included as a character.
Okay, so you HAVE to hear this. Jason was telling me about Ellie, and it was the cutest thing EVER. He said she wished on a star – seriously! – and then her Slothy plushie just… came to life in her eyes! He said her eyes got SO wide, she froze, just clutching that little Slothy. It reminded him of when he was a kid, because he had a Jiminy Cricket figure and was all about having a conscience, like Pinocchio! It was just… perfect. I totally get it, you know? That feeling of believing in something magical.
The former NFL player explained that Ellie was deeply frightened by what happened. Kylie, meanwhile, was extremely angry, and reportedly exclaimed, “What’s wrong with you?”
Jason doesn’t just create special bedtime stories for his daughters and Kylie’s; he also puts on a concert for them.
I enjoy singing whenever I hear a song I like, especially when it’s bedtime for my daughters,” the 38-year-old shared.
He sang a short excerpt from the folk song “The Unfortunate Lad,” which appeared in the Coen brothers’ film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and then jokingly added, “Goodnight, Wyatt!”
“That,” Travis commented, “left me speechless.”
Kylie, 33, had said in August that Jason was “tagging in heavy on bedtime.”
Bedtime used to be a team effort, but now my husband handles it mostly on his own, and he’s really good at it. The kids actually prefer it that way! They’ll tell me, ‘Mom, you can leave!’ He gives amazing back scratches and does all the voices when he reads stories – he’s much more fun than I am. The biggest change has definitely been at bedtime; my husband is a total pro.

Oh my gosh, you guys, back in October 2019, my absolute heroes, Jason and Kylie Kelce, had their first baby! It’s a little girl named Wyatt Elizabeth Kelce, and honestly, she’s basically royalty. I was SO excited when I heard!
Their second daughter Elliotte Ray Kelce joined the family two years later.
A year after Elliotte was born, Kylie announced she was expecting another baby, sharing a sweet photo to reveal the news.
The couple had their third child in February 2023, just a couple of weeks after Jason competed against his brother, Travis Kelce, in the 2023 Super Bowl.
In May 2023, Jason posted a photo on Instagram of his oldest daughters with a large trophy, expressing his disbelief and excitement: “I never imagined I’d be holding the Larry O’Brien trophy, especially not in my own home!”
It was amazing to see the trophy up close,” he said. “It’s much bigger than it looks, especially when NBA players are holding it – it seems small in their hands, but it’s actually huge! My daughters were really fascinated by it, too.
In August 2023, a family of five enjoyed some fun times, including obstacle courses and visits to Rita’s Italian Ice after practice, as Kylie playfully shared on Instagram, saying they were ‘here for the Rita’s and obstacle courses with dad’.
Jason and Kylie celebrated Wyatt’s fourth birthday in October 2023 with a special party held at the Philadelphia Eagles’ stadium. Kylie shared on Instagram that the celebration happened during a winning streak for the Eagles, who were 4-0 at the time.
In June 2024, Kylie posted a photo on Instagram of her three sons, Wyatt, Elliotte, and Bennett, with the caption, “Parents know… two out of three isn’t bad!”
Oh my goodness, I just saw the sweetest photo! Jason’s mom, Donna Kelce, commented on it, and her message was absolutely adorable – she called the group of kids a ‘cute beautiful bunch of lucky charms’ under the rainbow! It really warmed my heart and reminded me how precious those little moments are.
