How to unlock the Forsaken Hollows DLC in Elden Ring Nightreign

Like most DLC from FromSoftware, figuring out how to access The Forsaken Hollows in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion can be tricky. However, it’s much easier to unlock than the Artorias of the Abyss DLC for Dark Souls, which was notoriously difficult to find without prior knowledge.

Unlocking the Forsaken Hollows DLC in Nightreign is similar to how you unlock characters like Duchess and Revenant in the main game – you just need to meet a few requirements. This mainly involves defeating some Nightlords, which you’ve likely already done if you’ve played for a while. Here’s a guide to unlocking the DLC.

How to start the Forsaken Hollows in Elden Ring Nightreign

To begin the new Forsaken Hollows content in Nightreign, you’ll need to fulfill a few requirements. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Defeat two different Nightlord expeditions (including the first Tricephalos expedition). I recommend Augur if you want an easy second win.
  2. Unlock both the Undertaker and the Scholar Nightfarers. While FromSoft has already provided a vague outline for this, I’ll link a couple of guides above when I know the exact specifics for each.

After completing those two tasks, go to the Small Jar Merchant in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold. You’ll find a door behind him has opened, leading to a chapel. This unlocks the new ‘The Great Hollow’ event, which involves shifting earth, and lets you begin the expedition to fight the Balancers boss.

You’ll also begin to see downloadable content appear in Deep of Night, which can be a little scary! However, to experience this content, you need to play with others who also own the DLC, so it won’t happen automatically when playing with random players.
