Netflix has created many of the most popular shows of recent years, but it rarely releases them on DVD or Blu-ray, which is frustrating for fans who like to collect physical copies. While Netflix relies on subscriptions, it makes sense they don’t focus on physical media. Still, many of their original shows are so good people want to watch them again and again, and owning a physical copy lets them do that even after canceling their subscription. It also allows them to share those shows with friends and family who don’t subscribe. Even though Netflix is currently successful, physical copies guarantee these shows will still be available to watch in the future, regardless of what happens to the company or the streaming industry.
While physical copies like DVDs and Blu-rays are great for shows, Netflix only releases a select few this way. Popular early originals such as Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards have been released, and more recent hits like The Haunting of Hill House and Arcane joined them. However, many Netflix originals don’t get a physical release at all. Given their popularity and how often people rewatch them, these five shows really deserve to be available on DVD and Blu-ray.
5) Bridgerton

Netflix has a lot of enjoyable shows perfect for relaxing, and Bridgerton is a great example – as long as you don’t mind a little drama! The show is entertaining, and its compelling characters and love stories make it worth watching. They keep viewers hooked and coming back for more. It’s disappointing that Netflix hasn’t released Bridgerton on DVD or Blu-ray yet. Many devoted fans would love to own the seasons, especially those who also collect the books the show is based on. Hopefully, a physical release will happen once the series is complete.
4) Midnight Mass

Mike Flanagan’s shows on Netflix are incredibly rewatchable – you always notice new details each time. He expertly blends scary moments with deeply emotional stories and meaningful themes. While The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor are available on DVD and Blu-ray, his more recent work hasn’t received the same treatment. This is especially frustrating with Midnight Mass, which is considered one of his best series. It’s a truly chilling and enjoyable story that many horror fans would love to own and revisit again and again.
3) Wednesday

Even though it’s only been on for two seasons, Wednesday has a unique and appealing vibe that makes it perfect to watch again and again. It’s likely to become a yearly fall tradition for many viewers, just like The Vampire Diaries and Gilmore Girls. Netflix seems to recognize the show’s popularity, as Season 1 is already available on Blu-ray. Hopefully, Season 2 will be released on Blu-ray too. Given its success, continuing to release Wednesday physically would be a smart move for Netflix, making it a great addition to any fan’s Addams Family collection or autumn-themed movie library.
2) Squid Game

Even though Squid Game was a massive success for Netflix, a DVD or Blu-ray version – even a special edition – still hasn’t been released. This is a shame because the series is a gripping watch, and it explores important issues that deserve to be preserved. While season three has received mixed reactions, it provides a satisfying conclusion to Gi-hun’s story, which is even clearer when you rewatch it. The show excels at developing its characters and offering a powerful commentary on the hopelessness caused by poverty and inequality. While that might sound bleak, Squid Game continues to evoke strong emotions in viewers, no matter how many times they watch it.
1) Stranger Things

Netflix’s Stranger Things has become one of its most popular shows, and the first two seasons are available on DVD and Blu-ray. However, physical copies haven’t been released for the longer episodes in seasons four and five, which is a bit strange. While season five is still in production, Netflix could release the complete series on disc once it’s finished, and likely would profit from doing so. But the show’s high rewatch value also encourages people to keep their Netflix subscriptions, as its charming characters, intricate plot, and captivating atmosphere make Stranger Things a truly rewarding series to revisit.
