D3 Publisher announced that Run for Money: Hunters vs. Runners! Can You Win as Either? will be available on PC through Steam on January 29, 2026. The game will support both English and Japanese languages.
The new game, Run for Money: Hunters vs. Runners!, is now available in Japan for both the Switch and the new Switch 2 console. Players can choose to play as either a Hunter or a Runner, and the game supports both English and Japanese languages.
Here is an overview of the game, via our previous coverage:
About
This game is inspired by the TV show Run for Money. Players take on the role of ‘Runners’ and try to escape from ‘Hunters’ within a limited area. The longer they avoid capture, the more prize money they can win.
This is the first game in the series to feature “Hunter Mode,” letting players strive to be the top Hunter. It also offers online multiplayer, allowing players to compete against others nationwide and climb the online leaderboards.
Experience Realistic Escape Action Just Like the TV Show
Here’s how the game works: Runners start with a 30-second head start to run and hide, while Hunters are released shortly after. Runners earn money for every second they successfully evade the Hunters, and they can choose to stop at any time and keep what they’ve earned. If a Runner avoids being caught for 15 minutes, they win! But if a Hunter catches them, the game ends. Can you outlast the Hunters and make it to the finish?
A Series First: Become the Hunter in Hunter Mode
For the first time ever in the game, you can play as a Hunter in a new mode called “Hunter Mode.” Players have always wanted to experience the thrill of tracking down and capturing Runners, and now you can! Take on the role of a Hunter, capture those Runners, and compete to become the ultimate Hunter. You’ll also encounter updated and improved Hunters in the game.
A Series First: Hunters vs. Runners Mode
Okay, so this new game mode is seriously cool. It’s called ‘Hunters vs. Runners,’ and it’s the first time we’ve seen anything like it in the series. Basically, you pick a side: either you’re a Hunter who’s gone a little wild with their power, or a Runner trying to take them down. As a Runner, you have to complete missions to get weapons and fight back! The ‘Online VS’ mode lets up to 12 of us play at once – four Hunters versus eight Runners. It’s a total free-for-all, and I’m already wondering if the powerful Hunters or the speedy Runners will win!
A Series First: Online VS
This game introduces an “Online VS” mode, letting up to 12 players compete against each other for the first time in the series. Players can quickly find matches online, or play with friends. All five stages from “Runners Mode” and “Hunters vs. Runners Mode” are available to play online.
Compete Against Players Across the Country in the Online Leaderboards
In Hunter Mode, your rank depends on how quickly you finish a level. In Hunters vs. Runners Mode, your rank is based on the total amount of prize money you earn, both when playing offline and online.
High-Variety Game-Original Stages
Each battle takes place on a brand-new stage! There are five in total: Wonderland, Diversity, Fantasy, The Airport, and The Pier. Events happening on each stage will start missions. Successfully completing these missions can help you escape by either opening up more escape routes or hindering the Hunters.
Series Mainstays Return
As a Monster Hunter fan, I’m super excited to hear that a lot of the features we all love are coming back! That means I can still share the game with my friends using Game Share and we can all hunt together locally – up to four of us! They’re also bringing back Hard Mode, which will be even tougher with these new ‘Hyper Hunters’ – they sound seriously powerful. And, of course, I’ll be collecting all the trophies and Hunter Figures. Gotta catch ’em all, right?
