Robert Webb reveals why he’s not competing in the Peep Show Bake Off special with Olivia Colman and David Mitchell

Fans of the comedy series Peep Show are excited for a special Christmas episode of The Great British Bake Off, which will feature the show’s cast reuniting.

Channel 4 has announced a special holiday episode where the cast of Peep Show – David Mitchell, Olivia Colman, Isy Suttie, Matt King, and Sophie Winkleman – will compete to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with their baking skills.

Lots of people have been asking why Robert Webb, known for playing Jeremy ‘Jez’ Usbourne on the show until it ended in 2015, isn’t joining the cast of the new series.

Honestly, I just couldn’t make it work with my schedule. I was up in Yorkshire filming a show for CBBC called ‘High Hoops’ – it’s a fun series about a girls’ basketball team, and I was right in the middle of shooting when the other thing came up.

I’d already been pretty difficult about when I could work, so asking for three more days off would have felt unreasonable.

The celebrity admitted they were disappointed to have missed the enjoyable event, even though they don’t particularly enjoy baking.

“I was sad to miss out, it would have been great,” added Webb when speaking at the recent Rose d’Or Awards. “[But] I’ve never baked a thing in my life!

I enjoy cooking, though I haven’t done much baking. It wasn’t a lack of interest that kept me from it, I was simply too busy with work.

Webb jokingly pointed out that while Olivia Colman seems to have it easy, some people actually have to work for a living.

It was recently confirmed that The Great Celebrity Bake Off will air on Christmas Day at 7:40pm.

Hosted by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, the show is set to be full of fun and unpredictable moments as the bakers tackle challenges inspired by the hit comedy, Peep Show.

This Christmas, Channel 4 will also be showing popular favorites like ‘Finding Father Christmas’ and ‘The Great Festive Pottery Throwdown’, plus not one, but two special episodes of ‘Taskmaster’.

The fourth Champion of Champions comedy special will air on December 22nd at 9pm. It features a hilarious showdown between previous winners Sam Campbell, John Robins, Andy Zaltzman, Mathew Baynton, and Maisie Adam.

The new show, New Year Treat, begins on Friday, January 2nd at 9pm. The first of two episodes will feature Big Zuu, Jill Scott, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Sam Ryder, and Susie Dent.

Don’t miss these festive favorites: First Dates on December 23rd at 9pm, followed by 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Last Leg on December 24th at 9pm and 10pm respectively.
