The animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir has become increasingly popular since its debut in 2015. Now in its sixth season with several spin-offs, the show continues to follow the adventures of Marinette and Adrien. While more seasons and movies featuring the superhero duo are planned, the studio behind Miraculous is also creating something new. They’ve announced a new animated movie called Carmen, which will focus on the world of formula racing, and have released a first glimpse of the project.
ZAG, the animation studio known for Miraculous, is partnering with former Formula 1 driver Carmen Jorda for a new animated movie called Carmen. The film is being produced by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) and Tyler Thompson (Black Swan), and Jeremy Zag, the creator of Miraculous, is leading the project. He hopes to build Carmen into a successful franchise, similar to Miraculous‘s Ladybug and Cat Noir. According to ZAG, the movie follows Carmen as she strives to achieve her dreams and find herself. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but you can see a first look image below.

A Closer Look at Carmen
Jeremy Zag recently shared the inspiration behind his upcoming racing movie with Variety. He explained that his team always aims to create inspiring role models for children, and Carmen Jorda’s determination deeply impressed him. He’s eager to use her life story as the foundation for a new hero. Carmen Jorda herself added that racing has been central to her life and she’s thrilled to collaborate with Zag to share a story that empowers young girls globally. She hopes to encourage them to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals, just as she did.
Producer Michael Gracey explained that the story of Carmen is about overcoming challenges and believing in yourself, even when things are difficult. He’s excited to let her courage and drive shape the film, hoping it will inspire a new audience.
Even as the new series Carmen prepares to launch, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is already deep into its sixth season. Recently, Miraculous: Tokyo Force premiered on Disney Channel, offering a fresh anime-style spin on the beloved characters. The Miraculous franchise, and entertainment as a whole, seems to have limitless potential, and it will be fascinating to see if ZAG’s new racing series can achieve the same success as its superhero shows.
