Deadpool is well-known for directly addressing readers and acknowledging he’s in a comic book. While he’s the most famous character to do this, the latest version of Daredevil is breaking the fourth wall just as much. Most comic fans know Wade Wilson frequently talks to us, commenting on the story as it unfolds. Though Deadpool isn’t the only Marvel hero aware of being in a comic, he’s definitely the most popular one.
Deadpool might have some competition! As the Ultimate Universe nears its end, a recent comic issue, Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1, is setting up the final storyline. Surprisingly, new characters are still being introduced, and we’re finally meeting the Ultimate Universe’s version of Daredevil, who was hinted at a few months ago. Now, fans are wondering: who is this new Daredevil, how is he different from the original, and could he actually be better at breaking the fourth wall than Deadpool?
Marvel’s New Daredevil is a Beyonder Without Fear

The comic Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1, created by Deniz Camp, Alex Paknadel, Patrick Boutin, Phil Noto, Francesco Manna, Lee Ferguson, and Javier Pulido, follows the Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy. They are on a mission to save their fellow team members and repair the damage caused by the Maker. Their journey leads them to meet the Ultimate Daredevil, who is also a Beyonder in this reality. Despite being injured and having limited senses, he can still bend reality and is using this power to protect what remains of the Ultimate Universe.
The villain Ultimate Daredevil is incredibly powerful, using a special hyper-cube to steal pieces of the universe. The Guardians of the Galaxy struggle to defeat him because he can manipulate the comic book itself – altering panels, jumping between them, and even changing the story to his advantage. However, Captain Marvel is ultimately able to retrieve the hyper-cube and return everything Daredevil had taken.
Deadpool’s Fourth Wall-Breaking is No Match for Ultimate Daredevil

Let’s be clear, Deadpool is a master of breaking the fourth wall and commenting on comics themselves. However, this new Daredevil is on another level. As a weakened Beyonder, he possesses incredibly powerful, almost god-like abilities. Unlike Deadpool, who mostly offers witty commentary, this Daredevil has actually demonstrated powers that can reshape reality – something Deadpool hasn’t done.
The Ultimate Universe is ending soon, and it’s uncertain if we’ll see this version of Daredevil again. He could appear in Ultimate Endgame, but once that universe is finished, it’s unlikely he’ll show up anywhere else. This means Deadpool will likely remain Marvel’s go-to character for breaking the fourth wall. Ultimate Daredevil was a great example of how interesting a character like that can be when presented as incredibly powerful within the world of comics.
