Sony’s All-In on Exciting PS5 Action RPG The God Slayer, Despite an Xbox Version Existing

Players were surprised this week to learn that the steampunk action RPG, The God Slayer, is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The game was originally announced as part of Sony’s China Hero Project, but the newest trailer didn’t mention the program at all.

This made us believe the project had grown beyond the initial PlayStation support program and was now operating independently. All previous projects that received this support have launched with a temporary period of exclusive availability on PlayStation consoles.

As we mentioned in our recent update, Pathea Games reached out to let us know that the game is still being published by Sony.

When asked about their involvement, a Sony representative explained that they’re helping with the game’s development, as well as handling its marketing and release.

I was curious if the game would be exclusive to PlayStation consoles for a while, considering Sony invested in it, but the developer wouldn’t say one way or the other. They didn’t give us any details on that front.

It’s a strange situation. Sony released new trailers for the game on YouTube, but hasn’t mentioned them on social media or the PlayStation Blog. The official China Hero Project account also hasn’t said anything about the game.

However, the game is still listed on the show’s official website as a project that’s currently being made.

We’ll continue digging on this one because it is all a bit odd really.

Since “The God Slayer” isn’t expected until 2027, we have time to learn more about it. However, this project from China Hero seems to be progressing with a slightly different approach than other titles.
