Miles Morales first appeared in Marvel Comics in 2011, and over the past 14 years, he’s faced a number of formidable villains. He initially gained his powers in a similar way to Peter Parker and became the new Spider-Man after Peter’s death in a major storyline. Miles quickly proved himself, becoming a fantastic superhero in his own right. While on Earth-1610, he battled several memorable villains. After the events of Secret Wars, when he moved to Earth-616, he encountered two especially dangerous new enemies, alongside Peter Parker, who now served as his mentor.
This highlights the toughest villains Miles Morales has faced as Spider-Man.
10) Rabble

Rabble first appeared in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 and quickly became one of Miles’ biggest enemies. Raneem Rashad is an incredibly intelligent supervillain who can control machines with her voice. She initially blamed Miles because they both applied to Brooklyn Visions Academy, and he got the last available spot while she didn’t. Discovering Miles was Spider-Man, she adopted the name Rabble and sought revenge for being denied her chance at the school. Since then, Rabble has become a formidable villain, teaming up with dangerous characters like Mister Negative and the Hobgoblin, all fueled by her intense hatred for Miles Morales.
9) The Spot

Before the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, almost no one paid much attention to the Spot. He’d been a minor Spider-Man villain since 1984, generally considered weak and unimportant. However, his appearance in the animated film has led to a significant boost in his comic book portrayal. The Kindred storyline, in particular, showcased the true extent of his portal abilities. Interestingly, he actually fought Miles Morales in the comics five years before the movie, as part of the Sinister Six in Spider-Man (Vol. 2) #238. The Spot’s powers allow him to create portals to a unique dimension and essentially make him immortal.
8) Prowler

For Miles Morales, the Prowler has always been a deeply personal enemy. This is because, in one version of his story, the Prowler was actually his uncle, Aaron Davis. The movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse highlighted this connection, showing Aaron’s willingness to sacrifice himself for Miles. While the comics tell a different story – one of continued conflict, with Aaron trying to turn Miles to the dark side – both versions emphasize the intense connection between them. Even when attempting to redeem himself on another Earth, Aaron prioritized protecting Miles, ultimately sacrificing himself to save him. But when he was a villain, particularly on Earth-1610, he posed the greatest threat to Miles and his family.
7) Ultimate Scorpion

The Scorpion in the Earth-1610 universe is very different from the one most people know. Instead of being created by J. Jonah Jameson and having a venomous stinger, this Scorpion is actually Maximus Hargan, a dangerous weapons dealer wanted by the FBI. He doesn’t have any superpowers like the original; he’s just a very large, incredibly tough man who can heal quickly from injuries. While Scorpion easily overpowered Miles Morales in a fight, Miles was ultimately able to win by using his other abilities, though the battle was difficult and exhausting for the young hero.
6) Hobgoblin

Hobgoblin used to be one of Spider-Man’s most compelling villains because his identity and motives were a mystery. Once that mystery was solved, however, the character became less exciting and faded into the background. Now, he’s generally portrayed as a criminal trying to climb the ranks, but never quite succeeding. Recently, in the Gang War storyline, Hobgoblin challenged Miles Morales, proving to be a tough opponent, though ultimately he didn’t achieve victory.
5) Ultimate Mysterio

This version of Mysterio is special because it’s the original Mysterio from the main Marvel universe (Earth-616) who was transported to another universe (Earth-1610) by a mysterious figure called Kindred. Once there, he achieved a level of power he never had before, taking over the criminal underworld after defeating Kingpin. He originally planned to fight a young Spider-Man, but unexpectedly faced both the original Spider-Man and Miles Morales, who were working together across dimensions. This combination of circumstances made him one of the most formidable Mysterios in Marvel history.
4) Ultimate Venom

The Ultimate Universe version of Venom was far more dangerous than the one most people know, and wasn’t a hero at all – he was a true villain. This Venom was Dr. Conrad Marcus, the scientist who originally created the spider that gave Miles Morales his powers. Marcus later bonded with the Venom symbiote and mistakenly believed Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis, was Spider-Man. He demonstrated just how dangerous he was by attacking Jefferson, forcing Spider-Man to intervene. Tragically, during the fight, Venom killed Miles’ mother. Although Miles managed to defeat Venom, he suffered a devastating personal loss.
3) Ultimatum

Ultimatum is Miles Morales from the main Marvel universe (Earth-616). After the events of Secret Wars, Molecule Man restored Earth-616 and reunited Miles with his family. However, there was already a Miles Morales living there. This older Miles was involved with the Rigoletto Crime Family and had been working with Wilson Fisk for years. When he discovered the arrival of his younger self, he tried to eliminate him. He teamed up with the Ultimate Goblin to send Miles and his family back to their original universe (Earth-1610), hoping to regain control of the city. Because he was a version of Miles himself, he understood the teen’s abilities and became a formidable enemy, as dangerous as any of Spider-Man’s classic villains.
2) Morlun

Morlun is a particularly dangerous enemy, not just for Miles Morales, but for anyone connected to an animal spirit—especially Spider-People. He first appeared in the Spider-Man: Coming Home story and quickly established himself as one of Spider-Man’s most powerful foes. This became even clearer when he targeted newer heroes like Miles Morales. Their battle during Spider-Geddon showed just how formidable Morlun was, and even Peter Parker worried that Miles, still a teenager, couldn’t defeat him, despite Miles’s incredible effort.
1) The Assessor

Miles Morales considers the Assessor to be his most formidable and dangerous enemy. Unlike any other villain he’s faced, the Assessor pushed Miles to his breaking point, forcing him to rely on the help of heroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man just to survive. Essentially, the Assessor is an artificial intelligence designed to evaluate people’s abilities. Hired by Ultimatum to test Miles, he created both evil (Selim) and good (Shift) clones of him. Despite everything Spider-Man tried, and even with Iron Man’s assistance, they couldn’t defeat the Assessor – he could always rebuild himself. The Assessor remains a major threat to Miles Morales.
