Following recent layoffs at Eidos Montreal, details are surfacing about projects in development, including a reportedly cancelled reboot of the Legacy of Kain series. It’s also come to light that approximately 20 developers were collaborating with Kojima Productions on their new horror game, OD.
According to sources at Insider Gaming, developers worked on a project with Kojima Productions for around a year in 2023. The partnership reportedly ended when Kojima Productions asked the developers to relocate to Japan and sever their connection with Eidos Montreal.
Although it might sound surprising, the studio has helped with other Xbox games like Grounded 2 and the new Fable. It’s quite possible they also worked on OD, even though the request from Hideo Kojima was a bit different than usual.
The game, currently known as OD, doesn’t have a confirmed release date or the platforms it will be available on, but it’s expected to be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S. The cast includes Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and the late Udo Kier. You can find more information about Kier’s passing and director Hideo Kojima’s memories of working with him at this link.
