Mila Kunis Calls Out Her Neighbors as Head of HOA

Mila Kunis has taken on a new role—as the president of her homeowners association.

And the Black Swan star, 42, shared that it might be one of her toughest yet.

“It feels like all anyone does is complain,” she said on the December 8th episode of Today. “That’s all I hear all day.”

Mila, who shares 11-year-old daughter Wyatt and 9-year-old son Dimitri with her husband Ashton Kutcher, explained that people rarely express gratitude. She said, ‘It’s amazing how no one ever just says, “Thank you.” For anything at all!’

As to why the That ’70s Show star would take on such a job?

“No one else wanted it,” she emphasized. “It is a really thankless job!”

To her neighbors, she has one main gripe: Please answer emails.

She also mentioned that people don’t usually respond to her emails. They assume they’re part of a group mailing, so she doesn’t get confirmations. She emphasized that she put a lot of effort into crafting the email, working closely with ChatGPT to get it right.

Luckily, she only manages eight properties, and she has a helpful friend on the homeowners association board who can assist her.

I recently texted a friend who lives nearby, jokingly telling them to respond to my email so I could use their response to encourage others to do the same,” she explained with a laugh.

People in Beverly Hills aren’t going to respond to her simply because she’s a celebrity – they’ll treat her like anyone else.

In a December 1st interview with The Wall Street Journal, she explained that people often don’t seem to take the situation seriously. She even described a funny experience where she had to call someone to inspect a damaged road, and they started laughing when they saw it. She admitted thinking, ‘I realize this is absurd, but could you please still give me a price estimate?’

Mila—who married Ashton in 2015—shared that otherwise, her home life is very average.

She explained that she wakes up at 6:15 every morning and immediately turns off her alarm. Then, she makes coffee for herself and prepares breakfast and lunch for her kids. Her husband, Ashton, takes them to the bus stop, and she describes the morning routine as relaxed and easygoing.

Mila Kunis understands everyone makes mistakes, and she’s quick to admit when she’s wrong—particularly when it comes to apologizing to her children, Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood, whom she shares with her husband, Ashton Kutcher.

Honestly, it just kills me when I lose my temper. I actually had to apologize to my little girl, she was only three at the time! I’ll get upset, then I’ll pull myself together, sit her down, and say, ‘Sweetheart, I am SO sorry. Mommy messed up and overreacted. Can you forgive me?’ And she’ll just say ‘Yes!’ It doesn’t even matter if she fully understands what’s going on, I just want her to see that I’m not perfect either, that I make mistakes just like she does. It’s so important to me that she knows I’m flawed too.

Kunis encourages all moms to realize that their best is more than enough for their kids.

She explained in a 2016 interview with A Plus that it’s often considered unacceptable to admit you’re not perfect. She believes simply knowing you’re trying your best is enough, and she feels confident she’s the best mother her daughter, Wyatt, could ask for.

During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress explained the true reason she and Ashton Kutcher appeared in the 2021 Super Bowl Cheetos commercial featuring Shaggy. She said they just needed a little time away from their children.

It didn’t really make sense at the time, considering how bad the pandemic was,” Kunis said. “I was just desperate to leave the house.

Kunis then joked, “I got two days off from my kids, I’m a horrible mom!”

Kunis’ biggest parenting fail? 

In a 2021 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Mila Kunis shared a story that she thought might get her in trouble. She explained that a young child at her daughter’s preschool had been unkind and pushed her daughter.

Mila Kunis immediately asked their daughter, Wyatt, if she had defended herself by pushing the other child, but Ashton Kutcher disagreed with this approach.

Kunis recounted telling her daughter to push back if someone pushes her, saying, ‘Next time, push her back. Then say ‘No, thank you,’ and walk away.’ She then added that while pushing someone off of playground equipment is unacceptable, a gentle push back on the ground is a reasonable response. She jokingly called not allowing that a ‘parenting fail.’

Mila Kunis shared on the Armchair Expert podcast that she didn’t bathe her children daily, and actually never bathed her newborns. Ashton Kutcher chimed in, explaining their parenting philosophy: only wash kids when they’re visibly dirty, otherwise there’s no need.

Speaking on the Teach Me Something New podcast in 2020, she said they don’t take themselves too seriously around their kids. Kunis believes this comes from being comfortable with who they are – both physically and mentally – and not worrying about looking foolish.

Wyatt asked Mila Kunis to dress up as Elsa from Frozen, but Kunis initially refused. She jokingly said she told her daughter, ‘No way, Mama isn’t Elsa!’ But she eventually gave in, admitting she ended up wearing a blonde wig and full Elsa costume for her daughter.

Although Mila Kunis wasn’t thrilled about dressing up as the Ice Queen for Halloween, she did learn a valuable lesson from playing Elsa: embracing the idea of letting things go!

She told Glamour that it’s important to remember children are their own people, with personalities that develop independently. She shared that her daughter is naturally kind and affectionate – always wanting to hug others – and emphasized that this isn’t something she taught her. She’s come to understand that parents can’t control everything about their children.

In a playful conversation with Ellen DeGeneres, Kunis jokingly said she’d still love her daughter even if she committed a serious crime. She explained that her love is unconditional, saying she’d be understanding, even in an extreme situation. She then shared how overwhelmed with joy she felt when her daughter was born, calling it the best moment of her life.

Mila Kunis shared that she was very emotional – she cried – when she went back to acting after taking time off following the birth of her son, Wyatt, in 2014.

She told Jimmy Kimmel it felt really strange leaving her child, especially as a stay-at-home mom. It’s a very unusual feeling to suddenly step away from your kid when you’re used to being with them all the time.

During a recent online Q&A, Mila Kunis shared her feelings about becoming a mother, saying it’s completely transformed her life. She expressed how much she enjoys being a stay-at-home mom and currently has no plans to return to acting, finding motherhood to be the most demanding – and rewarding – job she’s ever had.

The actress from Friends With Benefits understands how hard it is to find clothes that are comfortable both during and after being pregnant.

“Having a baby and breastfeeding,” Kunis told TopMob News, “nothing fits in these dresses anymore.”

Kunis isn’t here for any mommy shaming.

According to the former That ’70s Show star, the pressure to compete as a parent is what’s really damaging. She explained to PopSugar that the time you have with your children is so short, you shouldn’t waste it worrying about unimportant things.

You know, I’ve always tried to live life on my own terms, and that includes making choices that are right for me, regardless of what others think. I shared this with Vanity Fair a while back. What bothers me, though, is the double standard women face. We live in a culture obsessed with the female form, and somehow, simply showing a breast – something natural – becomes a scandal. I understand people have different viewpoints, and I respect that. Honestly, if it’s not something you want to see, just don’t! It’s about personal choice and respecting boundaries, on both sides.

Putting pressure on herself to have it all? Hard pass.

I’ll never forget what Mila Kunis said back in 2016 at the Bad Moms premiere – she was so right! She basically told TopMob News that the idea of ‘balance’ is a myth. It just doesn’t exist, and honestly, I completely agree with her.

Kunis shared that she usually only acts in one film each year so she can prioritize spending time with her children.

Mila explained to Extra in November 2025 that she and Ashton don’t work when their children are at school or if either of them is traveling.

I just… I can’t even explain it. They have this rule, this understanding, but sometimes they bend it, you know? But one thing is always true, always. They’re always together. Like, they’re never apart. It’s just… neither of them ever misses a moment with the other. It’s perfect.
