CBS will continue to be a great place to find hilarious comedies in 2025, with shows like Ghosts and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage keeping viewers entertained after Young Sheldon concludes in 2024. Now, Iain Armitage, who starred in Young Sheldon, is returning to CBS – and Ghosts – as a guest star! He actually hoped this would happen, and now his dream has come true.
Iain Armitage will make a guest appearance on the show Ghosts in April 2026, with the episode also available to stream on Paramount+ the next day, according to Variety. He won’t be playing a completely made-up character, but a slightly exaggerated version of himself—similar to how Mayim Bialik appears on Night Court or Topher Grace in Ocean’s Eleven. In the episode, Iain Armitage will visit Woodstone Mansion to join a serious poker game. Given that he’s 17, the character will be quite young to be involved in such a high-stakes game!
The young actor likely earned his role as a guest star on Ghosts. This will be his first time appearing on a major television network since Young Sheldon ended. He initially expressed his interest in the show back in the summer of 2025, responding to an Instagram post from Asher Grodman, the Ghosts actor known for his memorable pants-free scenes and Critics Choice Award nomination.
Richard Armitage shared a photo with Brandon Scott Jones (who plays a character on Ghosts) and joked about frequent, unexpected connections between their shows, Young Sheldon and Ghosts. Jones responded playfully, and then asked his followers if they thought Armitage should appear on Ghosts soon. While fans’ reactions are no longer available, Armitage quickly shared a picture of his Young Sheldon character raising his hand in agreement.
It may have taken another five months for his guest star role to be confirmed after that exchange with Asher Grodman, but he’s on his way! In an Instagram post about his casting for Ghosts, Iain Armitage hit up the comments to say:
I’m so excited! This show has always been a favorite of mine, and I can’t wait to meet everyone at Woodstone!
Filming for Season 5 started around December 10th, and fans are hoping Richard Armitage will share some glimpses of his new role while they wait for the show to air in the spring. It’s still unclear how big his part will be – whether he’ll have a significant role or just a brief appearance – but expect plenty of funny situations for Iain Armitage’s character if he can’t see the ghosts in Woodstone.
While we’ll have to wait until April 2026 for a new episode featuring Armitage on Ghosts, there are still several episodes of the show airing on CBS Thursdays before the year ends. You can also watch Young Sheldon by subscribing to either HBO Max or Netflix.
