Fans of Tomb Raider have a lot to look forward to! At TGA 2025, two new games were announced. Tomb Raider: Catalyst will continue the ongoing story developed by Crystal Dynamics, while Legacy of Atlantis will be a reimagining of the very first Tomb Raider game. But expect a fresh take on both experiences.
With many recent remakes of beloved games proving successful, Legacy of Atlantis isn’t simply a visual upgrade to Lara Croft’s first adventure. While the stunning graphics, powered by Unreal Engine 5, will undoubtedly make the game’s environments more realistic and immersive, what’s truly exciting is its connection to the new Unified Timeline. This initiative aims to create a consistent story across all Tomb Raider games, finally bringing continuity to the entire franchise.
Okay, so we don’t know a ton about the story or how much exploration there’ll be yet, but honestly, this new game feels like it’s leaning hard into nostalgia, and I think that’s a good thing – it’ll definitely pull in long-time fans like me. The trailer didn’t give us a firm release date, but Legacy of Atlantis is slated to hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2026. I’m already marking my calendar!
