Donovan asked the court to send Carwyle to a state hospital, believing it would be a significantly better and more helpful environment for him. Prosecutors pointed out there’s no evidence Carwyle’s obsessive behavior has stopped, even with medication. In response, Krauss argued that Carwyle’s actions were a result of untreated psychosis and emphasized that the legal system should focus on providing treatment and rehabilitation instead of punishment and imprisonment.
