Pluribus Episode 7 Ending: Carol and Manousos’ Journeys Explained

Episode 7 of Pluribus is slower-paced than earlier installments, focusing on the solitary experiences of Carol and Manousos as they adjust to their new surroundings.

From the start of the story, Carol and Manousos have been presented as individuals who are unwilling to accept those who are infected. Unlike the other characters who have learned to live alongside the infected, Carol and Manousos don’t even try to get help from them. Manousos, in particular, is even more determined than Carol to avoid any contact whatsoever.

In Apple TV+’s Pluribus, two characters attempt to do what they believe is right while also avoiding a mysterious group called the “Others.” But they quickly discover that staying safe and maintaining their principles is more difficult than they expected.

Why Carol Cries & Hugs Zosia In Pluribus Episode 7‘s Ending

Carol felt fantastic at first after leaving Las Vegas, trying to brush off the fact that neither the infected nor the immune wanted to be around her. But as time went on, she grew lonely and weary of being completely isolated. She began to suspect that keeping her distance from those infected might have been a mistake.

Because of this, she desperately misses her friends and wants them back. She even paints a “Come Back” message on her driveway, hoping they’ll forgive her and give their friendship another chance. In the Apple TV sci-fi series, her plea works – Zosia eventually returns home.

Seeing Zosia again makes Carol realize how deeply she’s missed her. Despite putting herself in danger to try and stop the virus and previously disliking people who were infected, Carol now understands she needs them more than they need her.

What Carol’s Change Of Heart Means For Her Pluribus Story

Carol now seems open to the idea of helping the infected instead of trying to cure them, and might even try to find a way for people and the infected to live together. This new approach could make it much harder for her to rebuild the world the way she remembers it, and restore everyone’s individuality.

However, this situation could also allow her to study the infected more closely. The more she learns about them, the better her chances of finding a way to stop the pandemic and save everyone.

Who Rescues Manousos In The Woods?

Like Carol, Manousos can’t bring himself to accept the changed world. He’s even more wary and unfriendly towards those infected, refusing their assistance. During his trip to find Carol, he makes it clear he doesn’t want their help, and even threatens them when they try to approach him in the woods.

Manousos nearly died after a serious injury while in the woods. Surprisingly, the infected didn’t abandon him; they seemed to be watching over him. When he collapsed and was close to death, they actually came to his aid and saved him.

Like Carol, Manousos may start to think the infected aren’t as dangerous as he believed. However, given his strong dislike of them in the past, he might still cling to his original opinions and resist living alongside them.

How Pluribus Episode 7 Reveals Carol & Manousos Are Not The Same

In the beginning of the show, Manousos is shown going to extreme lengths, even starving himself and eating dog food, to avoid any interaction with those infected. He remains completely isolated, and even when forced to speak with them, he harshly insists he’ll never see them as anything other than infected.

Unlike some others, Carol hasn’t dismissed those who are infected. She’s actually welcomed their assistance several times.

It’ll be fascinating to see how Carol reacts to meeting Manousos while in Pluribus, particularly after she started to sympathize with the infected in episode 7. The show also seems to be positioning Manousos as the primary antagonist, judging by his strong dislike for them.
