In recent seasons, The Simpsons has been experimenting with future storylines, showing Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie much older. These episodes have allowed Maggie to speak a few times, as well as in some of the show’s annual Halloween specials. An upcoming episode in the thirty-seventh season will feature Bart and Lisa as teenagers, venturing into a previously unexplored timeline. And thanks to this new storyline, Maggie will be voiced by a surprising, well-known actress.
Lindsay Lohan, known for her roles in Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, has joined the cast of The Simpsons! She’ll be providing the voice for baby Maggie Simpson in an upcoming episode. A new clip was released showing Lohan’s take on the character, where Maggie tries to warn her family about Bart’s terrible driving – despite having laryngitis! Marge tries to prevent Maggie from speaking, but the baby manages to get a few words out. A still image from the episode suggests Maggie isn’t able to stop Bart from recklessly taking the wheel. You can watch the clip below.

The Times Maggie Spoke

Maggie Simpson first spoke in the fourth season of The Simpsons, in the episode “Lisa’s First Word.” The episode cleverly jumped between the present and flashbacks to show when Maggie, the oldest Simpson child, said her first word. Although her family didn’t hear it at the time, the episode ended with a sweet scene of baby Maggie saying “Daddy.” But that wasn’t the only time Maggie has spoken!
In the latest “Treehouse of Horror” episode, a unique segment featured the voice of Viola Davis as Maggie Simpson. The story, titled “Plastic World,” presents a post-apocalyptic Springfield where most residents look the same, but Homer and Marge have been turned into plastic figures. To rebuild and survive, multiple plastic Maggies are created, and Viola Davis voices one of them, explaining this new, challenging world to the others.
In the upcoming season 37, Maggie unexpectedly starts speaking lines, showing that The Simpsons isn’t afraid to try new things. Since the show is already renewed through season 40, it seems likely Maggie will speak more in future episodes.
