With the holidays here, Tubi also has a great lineup of Christmas movies, and we’ve picked out seven of the best below. We’ve included a variety of options, so you’ll find some festive favorites alongside a few that aren’t quite as cheerful.

7) Love the Coopers

Despite not being groundbreaking, Love the Coopers is a charming and heartwarming Christmas movie. It features a fantastic cast and, perhaps more importantly, offers a chance to see the wonderful Diane Keaton in one of her final roles.

Diane Keaton and John Goodman star as Charlotte and Sam Cooper, a couple deciding to get a divorce after four decades of marriage. They decide to throw one last Christmas celebration for their family before sharing the news. The film also features a large ensemble cast including Amanda Seyfried, June Squibb, Jake Lacy, Alan Arkin, Ed Helms, Marisa Tomei, Olivia Wilde, Alex Borstein, Anthony Mackie, Molly Gordon, and a young Timothée Chalamet.

6) Meet Me in St. Louis

I’ve always loved Meet Me in St. Louis – it was a huge success when it came out in 1944, and for me, it’s right up there with Judy Garland’s most memorable films, even though everyone always talks about The Wizard of Oz. What’s really special about it, though, is that it’s where the beautiful Christmas song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” first came from!

The story unfolds through short, connected scenes, following the wealthy Smith family during the year leading up to the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. Over the course of that year, the father declares his intention to relocate the family from St. Louis to New York, even as his second-oldest daughter, Esther, finds romance in the city they might soon leave.

5) Jingle All the Way

While Jingle All the Way might not be a cinematic masterpiece, it’s a beloved holiday movie for those who grew up in the ’90s. It’s a fun trip down memory lane, especially with appearances by Sinbad and a young Jake Lloyd before he starred in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a father obsessed with work who hopes to bond with his unhappy son by finding the hottest toy of the season, a Turbo Man doll. The movie is strongest in its first half, when it offers a critique of the crazy shopping sprees caused by popular toys like Cabbage Patch Kids and Tickle Me Elmo.

4) The Night Before

Though promoted as a silly, pot-themed Christmas comedy similar to A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, The Night Before has more emotional depth than you might think. It’s worth noting that the director, Jonathan Levine, previously worked with stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the deeply moving film 50/50.

Each Christmas Eve, three friends come together searching for the perfect party. However, as the night unfolds, they realize they’ve grown apart over the years and are no longer quite the same.

3) Black Christmas

Before the iconic film Halloween, Black Christmas was a hugely influential horror movie that helped establish the slasher genre. Interestingly, it was directed by the same person who later created the beloved holiday film A Christmas Story.

I was totally gripped by this movie! It mostly takes place inside a sorority house, and these girls start getting these really disturbing, awful phone calls. At first, it’s just annoying, but things quickly escalate. When the police start investigating, they uncover something truly terrifying – something that reveals just how much danger these sisters are actually in. It’s a real edge-of-your-seat kind of thriller!

2) Arthur Christmas

From the creators of Wallace & Gromit, Arthur Christmas is a charming animated film about Santa’s youngest son. He’s eager to take over for his father one day, but needs to prove he’s capable. He gets his chance when he embarks on a mission to deliver a bicycle to a girl in Trelew, England.

James McAvoy stars as Arthur, and Jim Broadbent wonderfully portrays Santa Claus. Both actors deliver touching performances, and they’re matched by strong supporting turns from Hugh Laurie as Arthur’s brother, Bill Nighy as his grandfather, and Imelda Staunton as Mrs. Claus.

1) Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2

Now that Cineverse has released a new version of Silent Night, Deadly Night, it’s a good time to learn about the series. But honestly, the original two films are the ones worth watching.

If you enjoyed the first two Silent Night, Deadly Night movies, you should definitely watch Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. It features a lot of flashbacks to the original, and the final scene – a chaotic spree through the neighborhood – is famously over-the-top and even spawned a popular internet meme.
