New 2026 Roguelike Game Announced for Xbox Play Anywhere

Following The Game Awards, 2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for video games. Xbox revealed a strong lineup of upcoming titles, including the surprising announcement that South of Midnight will also be available on PlayStation 5. Microsoft is increasingly releasing games on multiple platforms with shared progress, and fans of indie action and roguelike games have another reason to be excited. A new title will fully support Xbox Play Anywhere, a popular feature that lets players seamlessly continue their game on both PC and Xbox consoles with all progress saved.

4Divinity and Leap Studio announced today that their action roguelike game, Realm of Ink, will launch on Xbox Play Anywhere and PC in Spring 2026. The game will be fully released as Version 1.0 on that day. Xbox Play Anywhere allows players to buy the game once and play it on both Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, with all progress and achievements carrying over. This is great news for fans of roguelike games, as Realm of Ink offers a lot of replay value.

To mark the news, Realm of Ink is featured in the Xbox Indie Selects Demo Fest, giving players a chance to try out its quick and stylish combat for free. The event runs until the end of December 2025 and showcases exciting indie games with exclusive demos available only on Xbox – it’s a great way to find and play upcoming hidden gems.

Realm of Ink is a distinctive roguelite game with a beautiful, hand-drawn art style and a compelling story. You play as Red, a skilled swordswoman chasing a powerful Fox Demon, but her journey quickly becomes much more personal. She discovers her life is literally written in a magical book, and she’s forced to fight against a predetermined fate. Red must find a way to rewrite her story, defy destiny, and learn the truth about who she really is.

The game is a roguelike where your choices matter, you’ll constantly find new things, and your abilities are always changing. Every attempt features different paths, ways to fight, and power-ups, all set in stunning environments inspired by classic East Asian paintings. It’s fast-paced and action-packed, making it a great fit for fans of Hades 2.

Xbox Play Anywhere makes games like this truly shine. Because the game is designed around short ‘runs,’ it’s perfect whether you’re playing in quick bursts on your console or settling in for longer sessions on your PC. Best of all, you can switch between devices without losing your progress!

Xbox has been working hard to make gaming seamless between PCs and Xbox consoles. Xbox Game Pass is a big part of this, but the Xbox Play Anywhere program is also playing a key role. Recent reports suggest Xbox is shifting away from having games exclusive to its platform, and might release popular titles like Gears of War: Reloaded and Halo: Campaign on PlayStation 5. This makes their focus on subscriptions and programs like Play Anywhere a logical step.
