Amanda Seyfried is still eager to star in a third Mamma Mia movie, even though some people think it might not happen. She’s committed to making Mamma Mia 3 a reality, regardless of any doubts.
Amanda Seyfried recently discussed the possibility of a Mamma Mia 3 in an interview with Variety, reflecting on her time with the first two films. Her comments have sparked debate about whether another sequel is a good idea, but Seyfried has a confident reply for anyone questioning the project.
I had the chance to chat with Rita Wilson last night, and someone had mentioned earlier that they’d spoken to her about a potential ‘Mamma Mia 3’. They said she hadn’t ruled it out, and honestly, I immediately thought, ‘That idea is fantastic!’ I said as much to Rita, and she totally agreed!
Honestly, the idea is so ridiculous it has to happen, right? Like, they’re still churning out “Fast and Furious” movies, and we already got two “Mamma Mia!” films. If Meryl Streep is up for it, I’m in! All I want is to see her and Christine Baranski back on an island together. Christine is a legend, one of the greats!
The Fast and Furious franchise has eleven movies, and a twelfth is planned. This raises a common question for many film series: how many sequels are too many?
Released in 2008, Mamma Mia! was a huge box office success, becoming the highest-grossing live-action musical film up to that point. Made for just $52 million, it earned over $600 million around the world. The film featured popular songs by ABBA and starred Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth.
The sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (also known as Mamma Mia 2), was also a hit, though it didn’t perform quite as well as the first film. It earned over $400 million worldwide on a budget of $75 million.
Judy Craymer, the producer of the Mamma Mia films, has confirmed that a third movie is in the works. Amanda Seyfried has also indicated the film is officially happening. While details about the story are still under wraps, Seyfried has expressed her hope that Sydney Sweeney and Sabrina Carpenter will be part of the cast.
Amanda Seyfried is currently working to promote her new films, The Housemaid and The Testament of Ann Lee. She’s well-known for her roles in popular movies like Mean Girls, Jennifer’s Body, Mamma Mia, and Dear John. Seyfried also has several upcoming projects, including Skinny Dip, My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, and The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd.
