As a huge fan, I was so excited when Hollow Knight: Silksong finally came out in September after all those years of waiting! And it wasn’t just me – everyone loved it! Team Cherry recently shared that the game has already sold over seven million copies, which is amazing news!
It’s particularly remarkable that so many people have played the game, especially since it’s included with Xbox Game Pass. The developers at Team Cherry reported a huge number of players – far more than they anticipated – which actually caused problems with online stores like Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store during the game’s initial release.
It’s been incredibly fulfilling to watch our community thrive – seeing the fantastic art, dedicated moderators, clever tactics, and the way players support each other through tough moments. Your ongoing passion is a huge source of inspiration as we continue to develop and improve the game.
The team has no plans to slow down. They’re releasing the first expansion for Silksong, Sea of Sorrow as a free update in 2026, adding new areas, bosses, and tools for players. While development is progressing nicely, Team Cherry hasn’t announced a specific release date just yet, but they say more details will be shared before it launches.
