It’s time to scrub in.
HBO Max dropped the trailer for season two of The Pitt on December 16th, and viewers might want to brace themselves! The new season takes us back to the chaotic emergency room of Pittsburgh Trauma Hospital – also known as The Pitt – for another intense shift.
The trailer for the new season, set around the Fourth of July, opens with Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) saying, “and so it begins.” It immediately shows a busy emergency room, with scenes of patients filling the waiting room and being rushed in during crises.
I was so relieved to see Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) returning! She mentioned possibly retiring at the end of last season, but the trailer showed she’s back, even if it was just a short break. And I’m thrilled to see so many of my other favorites returning too – Dr. McKay (Fiona Dourif), Dr. Santos (Isa Briones), Dr. Mohan (Supriya Ganesh), and Dr. King (Taylor Dearden) will all be there, along with med students Witaker (Gerran Howell) and Javadi (Shabana Azeez). It’s going to be a great season!
Dr. Langdon, played by Patrick Ball, is back at the ER after completing a mandatory rehab program following the discovery of his drug theft last season. His return isn’t welcomed by everyone, especially his former mentor, Robby, and the tension is immediately noticeable.
Meanwhile, Robby’s future at The Pitt is uncertain as he’s about to start a leave of absence. His last day at work will involve interactions with both Langdon and the person taking his place, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi).
On top of everything else – fireworks, loud partiers, new babies, and emergency situations – the hospital’s computers crashed, forcing Robby to announce they were going to have to rely on old-fashioned methods.
The second season of The Pitt will begin streaming on HBO Max on January 8th, following news of its four Critics Choice Award nominations last month. After the show’s successful debut in January, Noah spoke about why he wanted to return to medical dramas – to share the stories of everyday heroes.
The actor expressed frustration that the skills of medical professionals are being doubted, especially given their dedication to helping others. In a recent interview with Variety, they explained that this situation is deeply upsetting and motivated them to create a show that emphasizes the importance of relying on verifiable medical facts.

While Martin is capable of solving any medical problem, he mostly just wants to be left alone. But he keeps getting pulled into the personal dramas, arguments, and wild imaginations of the townspeople. I’m so fascinated by TLC’s new series! It follows six people – not originally Amish – as they try living within a traditional Amish community in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They’re all looking for a big change in their lives and are seriously considering becoming Amish. It’s incredible to watch them adjust to a completely different way of life – one built on faith, hard work, simple living, and a strong sense of community. It’s a really thoughtful look at a culture so different from our own.
