As a huge League of Legends fan, I’ve been hearing whispers about a League 2 for months now! There’s been a lot of talk online, but nothing concrete. Well, Riot Games finally addressed it, and it’s not a sequel! Instead, they’re planning a massive overhaul for League of Legends, starting after 2026. So, no League 2, but a completely revamped LoL is coming, which honestly sounds pretty awesome!
Riot Games developers Andrei Van Roon and Paul Bellezza addressed recent rumors about a complete overhaul of League of Legends in a new video. While they didn’t call it a “remake,” they confirmed a major update is planned for early 2027. This update will focus on improving the game’s interface, graphics, and gameplay within Summoner’s Rift. They haven’t revealed all the details yet, but promise to share more information later next year.

This update to League of Legends is a good move for several reasons. The game first came out in 2009, and while it’s been improved a lot over the years, some older parts – especially the game client – really need modernizing.
While still incredibly popular, League of Legends hasn’t been as dominant recently as it once was. Releasing a significantly updated version of the game could attract new players and encourage lapsed players to return.
Okay, so if you’re like me and still obsessed with League of Legends, get ready! The new ranked season kicks off on January 8th, and Riot’s promising a bunch of changes. I’ll be keeping an eye on things here at ComicBook and will let you know as soon as I hear more details about what’s new in LoL.
