DC Just Revealed A Huge Wonder Woman First Is Coming In 2026

Wonder Woman fans have a lot to look forward to next year! As one story arc wraps up, DC Comics is launching a fresh initiative called DC Next Level in March. This means exciting new series, perfect opportunities for new readers to jump in, and bold new paths for existing storylines. And for Wonder Woman specifically, a major challenge awaits as she comes face-to-face with her most formidable foe yet.

Starting next March, DC Comics will launch the “Wonder War” storyline in Wonder Woman #31. In a grim future, the villainous Matriarch has taken over the DC Universe, defeating or subjugating all heroes and villains, and nearly wiping out the Amazons. Wonder Woman will travel to this dark future to stop the Matriarch, and she’ll have help – teaming up with her daughter, Trinity, for the first time ever. Together, they’ll fight to defeat the Matriarch and restore peace to the DC Universe.

Wonder Woman and Her Daughter are the DC Universe’s Last Hope

The recent Wonder Woman storyline by Tom King and Daniel Sampere centers around an Amazon named Emelie. The story began when Emelie violently reacted to sexual harassment, killing several men and causing the United States to ban all Amazons. She vanished afterward, and Wonder Woman’s search for her eventually revealed that Emelie was pregnant. This year, in Wonder Woman #19, Emelie reappeared and gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Lyssa.

Issue #19 of Wonder Woman is a key part of the ongoing story by King and Sampere, offering a glimpse into a grim future. Years from now, Lyssa will become a formidable villain called the Matriarch, responsible for the deaths of many, including Wonder Woman and the entire Justice League and Amazonian race. Only one Amazon will remain besides Lyssa: Trinity, Wonder Woman’s daughter, who is determined to stop Lyssa’s war and avenge the fallen Amazons.

As a big fan, I’ll admit the story felt a little confusing at first. Wonder Woman’s adventures usually happen now, but Trinity’s have been mostly set in the future. Those of us following Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman know Elizabeth Marston Prince has been jumping all over the timeline trying to rescue Steve Trevor. I kept trying to figure out how they were going to make this “Wonder War” storyline work, and honestly, with this team-up, I should have guessed time travel would be part of it!

Wonder Woman and Trinity are the Team-Up We’ve Been Waiting For

I’m finding it difficult to connect with the character of Trinity. She isn’t poorly written, but the story hasn’t given us much opportunity to see her develop, especially in relation to Diana. After two years, we’ve seen very little interaction between them – Elizabeth has actually spent more time with Jason Todd! This feels weak compared to the strong relationships we see between Superman and Jon, or Batman and Damian. We just don’t have a good sense of the connection between Wonder Woman and Trinity.

This next storyline is a great chance to explore the dynamic between these characters. Whether it involves time travel, magic, or something else entirely, bringing them together is a positive move for both of them. We’ll finally get to see how they cooperate, where they disagree, and how they form a connection. And what better way to bring heroes together than a major conflict? Despite the danger, this situation feels like a perfect opportunity to showcase the unique bond between Wonder Woman and her daughter, Trinity, and really develop their relationship.

I’m not sure what the upcoming Wonder War will bring, but I’m really happy Diana gets to reconnect with her grown daughter. It has the potential to be a fantastic story, particularly because they’ll be facing a powerful Amazonian enemy that both of them have a history with. Since time travel is involved, expect some surprises and an unpredictable adventure as Wonder Woman and Trinity team up for the first time.
