Shonen Jump is the leading publisher of manga, and it’s easy to see why. Their comics consistently rank as the most popular and successful, and when adapted into anime, those shows are known for their stunning visuals. This combination consistently makes them worldwide hits that stay popular for years.
For many years, Shonen Jump has been the leading source of high-quality anime series. It’s become so well-known that for a lot of people, the Shonen Jump name and anime are practically the same thing. This reputation is well-deserved, and a look at some of their most popular titles quickly shows why.
10) Death Note

Madhouse’s Death Note centers around Light Yagami, a brilliant student who discovers a mysterious notebook with the power to kill. Using it, Light aims to become a god-like figure known as Kira, but his plans are constantly challenged by the skilled detective L.
Death Note stands out as a unique psychological thriller, especially when compared to most action-oriented anime published in Shonen Jump. Its smart and captivating storytelling is a major strength, and the high-quality animation by Madhouse further explains why it’s so highly regarded by fans.
9) Jujutsu Kaisen

MAPPA’s Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori, a remarkably strong teenager who unexpectedly becomes involved in a world of curses and magic. After being possessed by Ryomen Sukuna, a powerful and dangerous curse from the past, Yuji finds that his life – and the lives of those around him – is far from easy.
Jujutsu Kaisen has quickly become a standout anime of recent years, and for good reason. Its compelling characters, smart storytelling, and beautiful visuals all contribute to its popularity. It truly offers a unique anime experience, and with season 3 on the horizon, its fanbase is expected to grow even further.
8) Slam Dunk

Toei Animation’s Slam Dunk follows Hanamichi Sakuragi, a troublemaker who pretends to be a basketball prodigy to get the attention of a girl he likes – even though he’s never played before. Once he joins his school’s basketball team, he surprisingly discovers he has some real talent, and more importantly, begins to genuinely enjoy the sport.
Featuring memorable characters and heartfelt storytelling that perfectly captures the spirit of sports anime, Slam Dunk is a true classic and a shining example of what makes Shonen Jump stories so great. It’s one of the most iconic and influential anime ever made, and even three decades later, its enduring appeal is clear.
7) Yu Yu Hakusho

Studio Pierrot’s Yu Yu Hakusho follows Yusuke Urameshi, a troublemaker who unexpectedly saves a child’s life, sacrificing himself in the process. For this heroic act, Yusuke is revived and given spiritual powers, becoming a spirit detective tasked with defending humans from dangerous demons.
Despite its straightforward story, Yu Yu Hakusho is a fantastic action anime thanks to its exciting fights, well-developed characters, and entertaining dialogue – particularly in the English dub. It’s a true classic of the 90s, and still holds up incredibly well today.
6) My Hero Academia

I’ve been watching My Hero Academia from Bones Film, and it’s a really inspiring story. It follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy who desperately wants to be a hero, even though he’s born without any special abilities. Then, he unexpectedly meets All Might, the hero he looks up to most, and suddenly gets the opportunity to show everyone he can be a hero – and maybe even the very best.
I’m a huge anime fan, and for me, My Hero Academia is right up there with series like Jujutsu Kaisen as one of the shows that really shaped what anime is today. It’s just so smart and exciting with its action, and it puts a really fun spin on the whole superhero thing – it absolutely deserves all the praise it gets! The final season just finished airing, but I know this series will be talked about for years to come.
5) Bleach

In the anime Bleach, Ichigo Kurosaki gains the abilities of a Soul Reaper, allowing him to defend his family and friends from dangerous creatures called Hollows. However, Ichigo quickly finds himself facing challenges far beyond just fighting monsters, often becoming the only one who can prevent global disaster.
I’ve been a huge fan of Bleach for years – it’s one of the giants of shonen anime, and always stood out with its awesome characters and incredible art style. But honestly, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has taken the series to a whole new level! And with season 4 on the way, things are about to get even better – I’m seriously excited, and I think everyone else should be too!
4) Naruto

The anime series Naruto, produced by Studio Pierrot, follows Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who is disliked by his village because he contains a powerful and dangerous spirit – the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. Determined to prove himself and gain acceptance, Naruto dreams of becoming the leader of his village, the Hokage. His journey is filled with challenges and battles, eventually leading him to fight for the fate of the world.
Along with One Piece and Dragon Ball, Naruto is considered one of the most popular and influential anime of all time. Even after more than 20 years, it remains incredibly popular thanks to its memorable characters and exciting action. While the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, has received mixed reactions, it hasn’t diminished Naruto’s status as a classic.
3) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

David Production’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure follows the Joestar family, where each generation goes by the nickname “JoJo.” These JoJos are always caught up in strange and dangerous situations as they battle to save the world from evil forces. A key part of these conflicts involves people using supernatural powers known as Stands, both as allies and enemies.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a remarkably creative anime, thanks to its unique fighting style and constantly evolving storyline, making every season a fresh experience. Now, fans are eagerly anticipating the anime adaptation of Steel Ball Run, which many believe will be the series’ peak.
2) Dragon Ball

Toei Animation’s Dragon Ball follows Son Goku, a boy with a monkey tail, as he embarks on adventures with his friends, frequently searching for magical Dragon Balls that can grant wishes. The series started as a martial arts story, but it eventually grew into a large-scale science fiction saga, with the battles and stakes becoming increasingly grand.
Since it first appeared in the 1980s, Dragon Ball has consistently excelled at blending exciting action with hilarious comedy. Each new story manages to surpass the last in both visual spectacle and storytelling. As one of the most popular and impactful anime series ever created, Dragon Ball has rightfully earned its legendary status.
1) One Piece

I’ve been watching One Piece by Toei Animation, and it’s a really exciting story! It all started after the pirate Gold Roger died, leaving behind a massive treasure hunt – that’s what they call the Great Age of Piracy. The main character, Monkey D. Luffy, is right in the middle of it. He’s got a body made of rubber, and he’s determined to assemble a crew, navigate the dangerous Grand Line, and ultimately become the Pirate King.
Alongside being one of the “Big 3” shonen anime, One Piece is widely considered the most popular anime globally. Its compelling characters, incredible world, and consistently improving animation have solidified its place as a cultural phenomenon and the top choice for fans of Shonen Jump anime.
