One of the Best PS3 Games Comes to PS5 And Instantly Becomes One of the Most-Played Games on PSN

I’m so excited! One of my all-time favorite PS3 games just dropped on PS5 and PS5 Pro through the PlayStation Store, and it’s already become incredibly popular – it’s at the top of the most-played list on PSN! It’s amazing to see so many people still wanting to play a game that first came out in 2010, but honestly, it doesn’t surprise me. This game isn’t just a classic PS3 title; it’s genuinely one of the greatest games ever made.

Rockstar Games recently surprised fans by releasing the original Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 5, even before doing so for its sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2. Remarkably, despite being a game from 2009 originally made for the PS3, it’s currently one of the 20 most popular games on PlayStation Network, according to PS TimeTracker. In fact, it’s the oldest game in the top 20, and when excluding free-to-play titles, it jumps into the top 10.

Still a Great Game

The game is attracting a lot of players, and those who try it spend an impressive one hour and 43 minutes playing on average, which shows it’s engaging. However, it’s important to remember that participation in PS TimeTracker is voluntary and mostly consists of dedicated fans. While Red Dead Redemption is popular with a wide audience, it’s likely that a smaller percentage of casual PS5 players are revisiting a 15-year-old PS3 game compared to its most loyal fans. Therefore, the game’s ranking might be different if we had data from all PlayStation Network users, but this is just an educated guess.

While many PlayStation 3 games haven’t aged well, Red Dead Redemption remains excellent, especially with its included Undead Nightmares expansion. This is clear from its PlayStation Store ratings, where it boasts a 4.76 out of 5-star average based on over 25,000 user reviews.

One player described Red Dead Redemption as a game that was ahead of its time, saying it’s a perfect mix of impressive technology and creative ideas. They’ve finished the game four times and still find it impactful, and they hope Red Dead Redemption 2 will remain just as enjoyable for years to come.
