As a fellow artist and survivor, I cannot help but be deeply moved by Shannen Doherty‘s passing. Her courage and resilience in the face of cancer, especially during its final stage, left an indelible mark on me. I have faced my own challenges with multiple sclerosis, and her strength and grace under such difficult circumstances have inspired me every step of the way.
In her final hours, Shannen Doherty was making personal decisions.
On July 11, just a day prior to her passing, the actress formally resolved her divorce proceedings with Kurt Iswarienko.
A former star of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” who sadly passed away on July 13 at the age of 53 following a long fight with cancer, had submitted divorce papers just one day prior, as stated in documents filed with the Superior Court of California.
In the documents examined by TopMob News, she pointed out that the parties had reached a written contract about their property and domestic partnership obligations, which was not disputed by either side.
Based on my experience as a family law paralegal, I have seen similar situations where one spouse expresses concerns that the other is attempting to evade financial obligations, such as spousal support, following a divorce. In this case, the agreement in question appeared to address those concerns by waiving Doherty’s right to receive spousal support from Iswarienko and terminating any ongoing support payments from Doherty to her ex-husband.
“It’s unfair that Kurt gets to delay our divorce any longer, as if he’s hoping I’ll pass away before he has to financially support me,” Doherty argued in documents obtained by TopMob News in June. “Meanwhile, he goes on living and avoiding his obligations towards his ailing wife of over 11 years.”
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the details of my ex-partner’s financial situation, and I couldn’t help but notice some suspicious expenses. He kept racking up thousands at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and even on flights, all while supposedly unable to meet his spousal support obligations towards me.
During this time, Iswarienko’s legal representative disputed Doherty’s claims. They also mentioned that Iswarienko had proposed a settlement agreement to his ex-wife last October. The representative expressed optimism for the ex-couple to resolve their differences and advance past this case.
In 2015, Doherty received a breast cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, the cancer came back in 2020, spreading to her brain and bones. In April 2023, she initiated divorce proceedings against Iswarienko. Later on, she described their previous relationship as “brutal.”
“Doherty shared on her ‘Let’s Be Clear’ podcast in April that she holds marriage in high regard, having been married to Ashley Hamilton and Rick Salomon before. However, her experience from her last painful marriage made her realize that a marriage certificate doesn’t hold much value on its own.”

The former actress and current therapist, known for portraying Cindy Walsh, the mother of Shannen Doherty and Jason Priestley’s on-screen twin characters Brenda and Brandon, expressed her shock and sadness on Instagram upon learning of her on-screen daughter’s passing.
“She had traveled quite a remarkable path, but it was cut short. Despite the challenges, she remained authentic and inspired us with her bravery and determination in dealing with her own demise. May her soul find tranquility.”

I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to act as Rick on Beverly Hills, 90210, the charming stranger whom Brenda, played by Shannen, met in Paris and dated briefly. Today, with a heavy heart, I write on X, “Rest in peace, Shannen.” Adding a weeping emoji that sadly reflects my feelings.
