Deadpool & Wolverine: Final Trailer Spoils MASSIVE Marvel Cameo

As a long-time gamer and comic book fan, I’m beyond excited about the upcoming release of “Deadpool & Wolverine”! I still remember the buzz around Fall 2022 when Ryan Reynolds announced that the third Deadpool movie was officially in production at Marvel Studios. The fact that it would retain its R-rating and bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for the first time since “Logan” (2017) had me hooked.

I can’t wait for next week when Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters! Back in Fall 2022, Ryan Reynolds, our leading man, made an exciting announcement during a Marvel Studios event. He revealed that Deadpool 3 was officially in production, and it would keep its R-rating, join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and feature Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine for the first time since Logan (2017). Filming began in 2023, and the buzz around set grew as whispers of cameo appearances by other Marvel characters’ retired actors circulated.

As the marketing campaign for “Deadpool & Wolverine” intensifies, several rumored appearances have been officially revealed in promotional content. Notable characters such as Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth, Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, and Kelly Hu’s Lady Deathstrike have made appearances with their faces shown in the film’s footage. The most recent trailer for the third installment of the series has confirmed yet another significant Marvel cameo.

The confirmation is out: Another big name from the Marvel universe will be returning to the Deadpool and Wolverine movie set for a repeat performance. (Caution: Spoilers follow!)

In the last preview, Dafne Keen is announced to return as X-23 in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Her debut and sole portrayal of X-23 occurred in 2017’s “Logan,” where she acted alongside Hugh Jackman, who was then believed to be wrapping up his role as the adamantium-clawed mutant.

X-23, also known as Laura Kinney, is a character born from Wolverine’s DNA. Her introduction occurred in the aftermath of “X-Men: Apocalypse,” when the Essex Corporation obtained Wolverine’s blood. As a result, she grew up with retractable claws like Wolverine and the ability to heal swiftly. Unlike Wolverine, however, X-23 has only two claws. In “Logan,” Wolverine assists X-23 and other endangered mutant children in their escape from harm. Tragically, Wolverine succumbs to his injuries with X-23 by his side. She honors him by burying him and placing his makeshift cross memorial on its side, transforming it into an X.

At a press event for The Acolyte, Brandon Davis from ComicBook had a conversation with Keen about handling the constant Marvel gossip surrounding potential comebacks to the role that kick-started her career.

“Months before her involvement in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was announced, Keen expressed her excitement. Not only was she amazed by the size and scope of the project that seeped into other endeavors, but also thrilled to be a part of such a storied legacy. Even after nearly a decade, she was still being asked about it, making her feel quite significant.”

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on Friday, July 26th.
