DC Comics had a phenomenal 2025. While the highly-regarded Absolute line started in 2024, it really took off this year with successful releases like Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman, and Absolute Wonder Woman, followed by Absolute Flash, Absolute Green Lantern, and Absolute Martian Manhunter. All six books were incredibly popular with both fans and critics. Beyond the Absolute line, DC’s regular comic series were also excellent, particularly the stories leading up to DC K.O.. Overall, the company produced some truly outstanding comics, resulting in top sales numbers not seen in years.
2025 was a fantastic year for DC fans, and the publisher is heading into 2026 with a lot of excitement. Next year promises some incredible comics, with many stories continuing from this year. Here are ten must-read DC books coming in 2026, brought to you by some of the best creators in the industry.
10) Justice League Unlimited

Launched in the summer of 2024 as a key title for DC’s new initiative, Justice League Unlimited has delivered exciting superhero adventures. Created by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, the series began with a compelling story arc against Inferno, followed by the World’s Finest crossover event, “We Are Yesterday,” and is now exploring the fallout from DC K.O. in “The Terrific Ten.” This storyline will continue into 2026, with a preview shown from issue #17. The series poses intriguing questions: will villains become part of the team, and what will happen to the League after the events of DC K.O.? With a top-notch creative team, Justice League Unlimited remains a cornerstone of DC Comics, and 2026 promises even more great stories.
9) JSA

DC’s Justice Society is truly a standout team, and their recent series, JSA (Vol. 2), has been consistently excellent since its launch in the summer of 2024. The first year focused on a conflict with the Injustice Society, and now the series is exploring the team’s beginnings with the “JSA: Year One” storyline. Writer Jeff Lemire and artist Diego Olortegui are doing a fantastic job, blending exciting superhero action with compelling character development. It’s easily the best superhero team book available today, and it looks poised to maintain that position in 2026.
8) Nightwing

Since 2022, Nightwing has been a standout title for DC Comics. In 2025, writer Dan Watters and artist Dexter Soy joined the series and brilliantly blended horror and crime elements, raising the book’s quality to new heights. The story has been a thrilling ride, with Bludhaven facing threats from both a mysterious corporate takeover of the police and the sinister Cirque du Sin. Dan Watters has consistently surprised and engaged readers, and that trend is expected to continue into 2026. Though Dexter Soy will be leaving the book in February, Watters’ strong writing ensures Nightwing will remain excellent in the coming year.
7) Bleeding Hearts

Vertigo comics are back in stores, and 2026 is bringing a lot of exciting new, independent series. While many look promising, I highly recommend Bleeding Hearts by writer Deniz Camp and artist Stipan Morian – I’ve already started ordering it from my local comic shop! The story is set on Earth after a zombie apocalypse where the zombies actually won. They’ve built their own culture and language, but everything changes when a zombie named Poke (a rather uniquely named character!) is resurrected. The series follows Poke as he navigates being alive again and the impact it has on both zombies and humans. Deniz Camp is a very popular writer right now, and this series looks like another big success for him.
6) Supergirl

2025 was a fantastic year for Superman comics, with lots of ongoing series and limited runs featuring characters from the Super-Family. One standout was Supergirl, written and illustrated by Sophie Campbell. Few people predicted it would be so good, but it truly delivered. Campbell perfectly balanced Supergirl’s long history, seamlessly blending different versions of the character. The book feels like a Webtoon-style slice-of-life superhero story, and it’s excellent. It appeals to both longtime Supergirl fans, like myself, and new readers interested in a fresh, modern take on the character. Campbell manages to offer something for everyone – visually appealing art and engaging stories that feel both classic and contemporary. It’s a truly exceptional comic, and it promises to be even better in the future.
5) Action Comics

Starting in 2025, Action Comics shifted to telling stories about Clark Kent’s earlier years as Superboy in Smallville. The series, written by DC expert Mark Waid and illustrated by Skylar Patridge, has been a really enjoyable read. The story focuses on Clark trying to become the hero his father, Pa Kent, would admire, all while being closely monitored by General Sam Lane, who wants to utilize Superboy for the military. In 2026, Lane will finally recruit Clark to help, and it will be exciting to see how Waid explores this development. Waid is perfectly suited to revive a classic Silver Age idea like a Superboy-era Clark, and Action Comics promises to be great next year.
4) Superman

The Superman comic has been a key part of DC’s storyline in 2025, contributing to the larger DC K.O. event. Right now, the story is deeply involved in the crossover, following Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, and Superboy-Prime as they each struggle against Darkseid’s schemes. Looking ahead to 2026, writer Joshua Williamson has announced a big change: Superboy-Prime will take over as the main character, replacing Superman. Williamson has been skillfully writing Superboy-Prime for months, making this shift particularly exciting, especially with artist Dan Mora returning to the series. Superman has been excellent since its 2023 relaunch, and it seems 2026 will bring even more compelling stories.
3) Absolute Wonder Woman

DC’s Absolute books are consistently excellent, and most fans agree that Absolute Wonder Woman, by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman, is the standout title. Many consider it the best take on Wonder Woman in decades, surpassing even the classic run by George Perez. The upcoming Absolute Wonder Woman release in 2026 will introduce Absolute Zatanna, generating a lot of excitement. This series is consistently strong, and if you aren’t already reading, it’s worth picking up the collected editions to get caught up. It’s truly one of the best comics available, and 2026 promises to continue that high quality.
2) Absolute Martian Manhunter

Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez’s Absolute Martian Manhunter has become a surprisingly phenomenal series. The initial six issues were incredibly impressive, captivating readers with a compelling story and stunning artwork. Its success led DC to commission another six issues, which will be released starting in December 2025 and continuing into early 2026. This comic is truly exceptional – a standout title that consistently delivers. If you’re not reading Absolute Martian Manhunter in 2026, you’re missing out on something special.
1) Batman

Look, Batman has always sold well, but recently it’s become something truly special. When Matt Fraction took over writing with Jorge Jimenez on art at the end of 2025, everything changed. This creative team gets Batman and Gotham on a level I haven’t seen in years. What’s really refreshing is they’re focusing on self-contained stories instead of long, drawn-out arcs. That makes it so much easier to pick up and enjoy, and honestly, easier to recommend to anyone. This isn’t the Batman we’ve been getting lately, and trust me, if you’re a Batman fan – and who isn’t? – you’re going to love this series. Fraction and Jimenez are really hitting their stride, and right now, in 2026, is the perfect time to start reading!
