Star Wars: The Acolyte Star Reacts to Killing SPOILER

As a dedicated fan of Star Wars and a particular admirer of Amandla Stenberg’s acting, I was deeply moved by the finale of The Acolyte. The climax, where Osha turns to the dark side in response to the revelations about her past, was an emotionally charged moment that left me on the edge of my seat.

The final episode of “Star Wars: The Acolyte” brought significant changes to its characters and plotline. With the series now concluded, those involved in its production can openly discuss the show’s events – including lead actress Amandla Stenberg sharing insights into one particularly dark scene in the series, both figuratively and literally.

WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE ACOLYTE!

In The Acolyte’s final episode, Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi master, Sol, and Manny Jacinto’s dark side warrior, Qimir, accompany Stenberg’s Force-sensitive twins Osha and Mae back to their home planet, Brendok. Upon their arrival, a confrontation ensued as the shocking revelation came to light – Osha and Mae’s mother was actually killed by Sol.

After Mae managed to make Osha acknowledge the reality about Sol, it shattered a deep-rooted belief within the aspiring Jedi. Consumed by anger and pain, Osha harnessed the dark side, using her newfound powers to strangle Sol with the Force and transform his kyber crystal’s glow from blue to red.

Amandla Stenberg shared with Entertainment Weekly insights about the striking turn of Osha’s character and its corresponding visuals in the climax. The duo, consisting of Stenberg and “Acolyte” creator Leslye Headland, aimed to leave viewers in amazement.

According to Stenberg, an essential aspect of creating Osha for Leslye, which I also find significant, is that her decisions are self-directed. She isn’t influenced or coerced into making them. Instead, they stem from her reactions and responses to the newfound knowledge about her past and life events.

Stenberg continued by emphasizing that in creating The Acolyte, it was crucial for the producers not to portray a character’s descent into darkness as if it were a form of demonic possession. Rather, they wanted to highlight the human choices and motivations that lead individuals to follow the path of the light or dark side of the Force.

In the scene involving Sol, it was crucial that we portrayed how she was being taken over by the dark side, but also showed her human reactions to distress. This balance was essential to develop throughout the entire season. Great care was taken in deciding where Osha’s character originated and where she ended up. A significant aspect for her character was the lack of an emotional release or a safe environment where she could fully express her Force abilities.

She struggled as a Jedi for that reason, and her upbringing within the witch covenant added to her hardships during childhood. All these factors influenced her ultimate choice, which while unfortunate, felt like a fitting resolution given her past. From an understanding perspective, it allowed her deep-seated emotions to surface, and surprisingly so, but in retrospect, it seemed appropriate for her complex history.

Star Wars: The Acolyte Star Reacts to Killing SPOILER

Among the errors in storytelling that The Acolyte possibly committed, Osha’s descent into darkness was undeniably captivating and engaging. This transformation became even more intriguing due to her romantic feelings towards Qimir. Stenberg acknowledged and explored this “alluring dark side” connection.

Based on my understanding of the given context, I believe that Leslye and I sharing the identities of a Sith and a Scorpio respectively adds an intriguing layer to our potential connection. Given my experiences and knowledge of astrology and the Star Wars universe, I find it fascinating how these two seemingly unrelated aspects intertwine.

No word yet on whether The Acolyte Season 2 is happening. The Series is streaming on Disney+.
