JoJo Siwa’s BF Chris Hughes Addresses Possible Christmas Engagement

Does Chris Hughes planning an extra-special holiday surprise in mind for JoJo Siwa?

After connecting with the singer of “Karma” on the U.K. version of Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, the former Love Island contestant talked about the potential for their fast-moving relationship to become more serious—though maybe not right away during the holidays.

He explained to The Sun in a recent interview with JoJo that proposals on Christmas morning happen all the time – you always see them on Instagram. He personally prefers the idea of not getting engaged at a time when people might anticipate it.

But JoJo, 22, offered an unconventional engagement plan of her own.

“This is my thing,” she rebutted. “What if I got him a ring? What if I proposed?”

After Chris, age 32, said he wasn’t keen on the idea, the former Dance Moms star backed down. She explained she’d only propose if she thought it was long overdue.

She said she wouldn’t consider it for at least seven years. After that, she joked, she might be open to the idea of getting engaged.

In fact, JoJo went on to establish a deadline for her boyfriend to put a ring on it.

She told Chris, “I’m going to propose on May 27th, 2032, and that’s final. I won’t wait any longer than that.”

And judging by Chris’ past comments about their relationship, JoJo may not have to wait that long.

It’s not about grand gestures, it’s about enjoying each other’s company in the simplest way.

JoJo expressed similar feelings, saying she couldn’t picture her life without her “sweet Christopher boy.”

In a June interview with TopMob, she described feeling genuinely happy and at peace. She explained that she no longer feels the need to project a certain image, simply feeling naturally vibrant and confident, and that she’s more self-assured than ever before.

August 1st, 2020 was an exciting day for JoJo Siwa, who was 17 at the time. She finally shared who she was dating – someone who she liked even more than her celebrity crushes on actors Patrick Dempsey and Zac Efron.

The former Dance Moms star enthusiastically told Jessalynn Siwa, the musician’s mother, that he was incredible and exactly who she’d hoped for.

But by that November, the pair were no longer in harmony. 

JoJo Siwa defended her recent breakup with Mark on Instagram, saying he doesn’t deserve negativity. She explained that they had a genuinely happy and fun relationship, and the decision to split was mutual and amicable. She asked people to respect Mark and understand they both deserve support, emphasizing that there’s nothing more to the story than their decision to go their separate ways.

JoJo Siwa and Kylie Prew first became friends on a cruise in 2020, but their relationship blossomed a year later. Siwa announced on Instagram in February 2021 that she had started dating Prew, calling her an exceptional person.

Siwa also thanked her girlfriend, calling her incredibly supportive and saying she inspired her to be authentic. She had already collaborated with Pride House, a group of LGBTQ+ TikTok creators, and posted a TikTok of herself dancing to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” She was considering whether or not to share a photo of a t-shirt that read “Best Gay Cousin Ever.”

JoJo Siwa explained on The Tonight Show that she was hesitant to share a picture on her Reels story, but a friend strongly encouraged her. Siwa said her friend told her to ‘do it,’ and she ultimately decided to post it.

JoJo Siwa and her former partner moved in together, a decision Siwa now regrets, as she shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast in April 2024. They broke up in October of the same year, but briefly reunited for one last dance in 2022.

JoJo Siwa told Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she and Avery Cyrus are still close and talk frequently.

I’m happily taken, and I’m not looking for anyone else! That’s what I told Rachel on her podcast back in March 2022. I’m a really loyal person when it comes to relationships, and I’m completely content where I’m at.

She’d played the field, she continued, and snagged herself a catch in Katie Mills. 

I’ve definitely been busy and explored my options,” Siwa said with a smile. “I’ve grown a lot through the process, and I’m really happy with where I’ve ended up.

But safe to say her romance with the TikToker wasn’t all fun and games. 

I remember when Siwa shared a video in March 2023 about people who try to win you over with excessive attention, then quickly lose interest, and about others who just want to be seen with you for the publicity. Well, right after that, Mills responded with some pretty shocking statements of her own! It was definitely a dramatic moment.

She publicly spoke out on TikTok that month, saying she was no longer going to stay silent. She questioned how someone could profess love for another person, then suddenly cut off all contact, only to later accuse them online of seeking attention and being overly affectionate. She admitted she didn’t understand the behavior.

She also pointed out that Siwa was the one who first shared their relationship with the public, but Mills always asked for her permission before posting anything about it. Mills emphasized that she has text messages to back up her claim, and warned people not to question her about it.

It’s clear that Avery Cyrus, who briefly dated JoJo Siwa in 2022, hasn’t become a major star herself.

To mark their 12-year anniversary, the singer described her life with her partner as a “D.R.E.A.M.” In an interview with TopMob News that October, she explained that their personalities blend perfectly, which she considers crucial in a relationship. She also shared that her partner’s positivity makes her feel great, and she believes she has the same effect on her partner.

Things shifted in December, though. Just two days after Miley Cyrus announced their breakup, JoJo Siwa hinted online that someone had used her popularity for their own benefit.

She expressed feeling used for attention and popularity in a December 2022 video her mother posted. She said she was led to believe someone cared for her, but ultimately felt manipulated and betrayed.

For Cyrus, though, their dalliance wasn’t a game. 

We ended things with JoJo on good terms and remain friends,” she told TopMob News. “Our relationship was genuine, and I truly care for JoJo and her family.

Dakayla Wilson finished as a runner-up on season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance, but she clearly made a strong impression on judge JoJo Siwa. Siwa revealed in an August TikTok video that she and Wilson became a couple after Siwa took time off from her public persona to help Wilson teach a dance class, becoming her assistant.

For months, Wilson was a wonderful dance partner. JoJo Siwa also revealed he supported her desire to have triplets and generously spent $30,000 to celebrate her 19th birthday with a trip to Hawaii.

“I’m head over heels for her,” the former Nickelodeon star told TopMob News. “She’s an amazing person, and I feel so fortunate to have her in my life.”

But it turned out that Wilson wasn’t all Siwa wanted for Christmas. 

JoJo Siwa told People magazine in November 2024 that she and her former partner had split up, but she still thinks highly of her. Siwa also mentioned she had her own plans for the holidays, and her ex-partner was spending the holidays with her family.

In January 2025, Siwa publicly announced she was dating Kath Ebbs, an Australian content creator, referring to her as her girlfriend.

Ebbs showed their affection in return, sharing pictures of them kissing on Instagram that same month. They captioned the post with a message celebrating their queer relationship.

Just three months after their initial announcement, Ebbs shared that they actually broke up at the wrap party for Celebrity Big Brother UK.

In an April 2025 TikTok, Ebbs explained that she’d been told there were mixed emotions about her, and that the other housemates had come to the conclusion they didn’t see a long-term future with her.

However, Siwa stressed that this wasn’t something anyone could easily step in and handle, even though she was close to fellow housemate Chris Hughes.

While filming, JoJo Siwa felt completely isolated and disconnected from her usual life, friends, and outside pressures. As she explained on ITV’s This Morning with Phillip Hughes, this time alone allowed her to recognize things she’d previously accepted that she shouldn’t have.

Siwa didn’t win Celebrity Big Brother UK, but she found something even better on the show: a romantic connection with fellow contestant Chris Hughes. They became a couple after filming wrapped in the spring of 2025.

She excitedly told Keltie Knight of TopMob News at the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe on May 21st that Christopher is her favorite person to discuss. She quickly added, ‘I shouldn’t say ‘thing’ – he’s a person, my favorite person to talk about!’

And, yet, she kept reiterating, they were just friends. Until they weren’t. 

JoJo Siwa confirmed in an interview with The Guardian in June 2025 that her relationship with her partner had become romantic. She described it as a wonderful progression, saying she’s deeply in love and feels the same way in return.

I’ve always admired how she describes her sexuality. She feels ‘queer’ really captures everything about her, who she is as a person. But more than any label, she’s all about loving the person, not just what category they fit into. It’s a really beautiful way to look at things, and it resonates with me so much.

JoJo Siwa pointed out that there are many different ways people identify in terms of sexuality. She believes it’s wonderful when someone figures out who they are.
