Battlefield 6 got off to a fantastic start, with over 750,000 people playing simultaneously on Steam. This early success makes it one of the year’s biggest game launches, and it’s now a major competitor to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, especially in the United States.
Before the game’s release, Rebecka Coutaz, Battlefield’s European General Manager, confirmed that generative AI wouldn’t be included directly in Battlefield 6. However, she explained that the team did experiment with it earlier in development, seeing it as a tool to help them be more creative and efficient.
This method follows a recent industry trend: AI tools are being used to help with initial development, rather than being presented directly to players in the finished product.
What have players found?

It seems the game’s initial claim of not using generative AI didn’t last long. Players noticed some strange cosmetic items recently added in a paid bundle – they look oddly unfinished or don’t quite fit together, which is what first sparked the discussion.
As an analyst, I’ve noticed some unusual details in recent imagery. Specifically, an M4A1 rifle was shown with a double barrel – something that immediately struck me as odd. Beyond that, players are also pointing out that some of the cosmetic descriptions seem a little…off, and suspect they might be created by AI. It’s definitely something we’re looking into.
Since this content was intentionally included in a purchased package, it doesn’t seem like an accidental addition. Though it’s not as significant as some of the more obvious uses of AI in games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it does contradict previous statements made about Battlefield 6.
This could hint at what’s in store for Battlefield 6 and other upcoming EA games, since EA is working with Stability AI, a company specializing in AI image creation. For a more complete overview of possible AI features in Battlefield 6, check out the list compiled by Reddit user u/heshtegded.
