Be warned, this article contains spoilers for season 4, episode 9 of Fire Country! The show’s creator, Tia Napolitano, has suggested that a new romantic connection might be developing for Bode in season 4. Throughout the season, sparks have flown between Bode (Max Thieriot) and Chloe (Alona Tal), a friend from his past who he’s recently reconnected with. Interestingly, the two actors previously played a married couple on the show S.E.A.L. Team.
In an interview with Collider, Fire Country showrunner Tia Napolitano discussed the potential for a romantic connection between Bode and Chloe as the show moves into its fourth season. She shared that both characters harbor unspoken feelings for each other and also explained how the show found its actor, Tal, to play the role of Chloe, praising their casting.
We began to consider a teacher Bode had known before difficult times arose, and then knew of during those times. They shared a mutual affection and a secret crush, but circumstances never allowed them to explore those feelings.
Max suddenly wondered if Alona could take on the role, questioning whether they’d even be allowed to consider her. It turned out they were not only okay with it, but CBS was thrilled! Alona was equally excited, and it was a joy to have her on set. She said working with Max again felt natural and easy, like riding a bike. They have great chemistry and I’m really enjoying watching them work together.
Napolitano believes these two will definitely have unresolved feelings for each other, though those feelings might not be mutual. However, their connection could also be risky, as it’s been discovered that Chloe’s boyfriend, Landon, was abusive towards her son, Tyler.
The connection between these characters feels natural and effortless, almost as if they’ve known each other before – and in a way, they have, since our story shows them as childhood friends. This shared history adds a charming and hopeful quality, exploring the idea of reconnecting with a childhood crush when the timing is right. We’re focusing on the simple, magical, and comfortable feeling that comes with that kind of connection.
Bode and Chloe are facing a risky situation. They need to think through their choices carefully, especially with Tyler involved.
The latest season of Fire Country revealed a shocking truth: Landon was responsible for the Zabel Ridge fire that tragically claimed Bode’s father, Vince, at the end of last season. Though he and Chloe have split up, Landon is now a suspect in a criminal arson investigation.

Once Landon is gone, Bode and Chloe will have a chance to become closer. Chloe’s recent appearances suggest Bode could be a positive father figure for Tyler, although it’s uncertain how easily Tyler will adjust to the change.
Despite their uncertainty, Janet Napolitano’s comments suggest a romantic connection will develop between the two characters. The big reveals at the end of Fire Country season 3 could actually bring them closer, but it’s still unclear what Landon will do next.
It seems like a romance is starting to develop between old friends on Fire Country season 4, though it might take time. Bode and Chloe already have a strong connection, and dealing with the fallout from Landon’s actions will likely bring them even closer. It looks like Bode might finally find love.
Fire Country season 4 returns to CBS in 2026.
