The anime series My Hero Academia has finished its main story, with Season 8 concluding Izuku Midoriya’s quest to become the top hero. But fans aren’t quite done with the story yet! A new installment was announced at Jump Festa 2026, coming next year, that will expand on the finale. This addition will focus on what happens after the final scene, showing Class A as grown-up professional heroes. Because the anime left out some details from the manga’s ending – like a date between the main character and Ochaco Uraraka – this new installment will give viewers a more complete look at the characters’ futures after graduating from U.A. High.
There are many ways the world of My Hero Academia could be expanded, and the story has a lot of potential beyond Izuku Midoriya’s experiences. The My Hero Academia: Vigilantes anime spinoff is a good start, but the franchise could explore even more possibilities. A prequel set in the past or a sequel taking place far in the future would both be exciting directions to take the story.
3) A Prequel Set When Quirks First Emerged

The anime My Hero Academia begins in a world where having superpowers, called Quirks, is the norm. This makes Midoriya unusual because he’s born without one. The first episode explains how Quirks first appeared, but there’s clearly more to the story than what’s shown. A change as big as the emergence of superpowers would naturally cause widespread chaos and disruption. It’s hard to believe everyone would react calmly, and without rules or systems in place, those powers would likely be used improperly.
A prequel to My Hero Academia could delve into the changes society underwent when people first started developing Quirks. It could show the evolution from the very first Quirk – the glowing baby mentioned by Deku – to a world with schools and careers built around these powers. While it might start with a more serious tone than My Hero Academia, it would ultimately connect to the world we already know and could explore themes that Deku’s story didn’t focus on.
2) A My Hero Academia Sequel About Class A as Pro Heroes

A new My Hero Academia project is planned for 2026, but it will only be one episode. I believe a full series following Class 1-A as adults would be much more engaging. The anime rushes through their final years of high school, and it could improve the story by exploring their early careers. As they take on more responsibility, they’ll inevitably face new obstacles, especially in a world where public perception of heroes is changing. It would also be fascinating to see how Midoriya adapts to the constraints of his equipment after using One For All for so long.
The biggest challenge for a sequel to My Hero Academia would be finding a fresh direction. Simply revisiting the conflict with All For One and One For All wouldn’t be very exciting. If handled well, a new story could be even more popular than the Vigilantes spin-off, simply because fans are much more invested in the original characters.
1) A Quirk Singularity Theory Spinoff Set Far in the Future

The idea of Quirk Singularity Theory appears in My Hero Academia, but the show doesn’t fully explore it. It’s one of the unanswered questions after the series ends, and might be revisited if there’s a continuation. This theory suggests that if people’s superpowers (Quirks) become too strong, it could lead to disasters like the breakdown of society or even the end of humanity. The reasoning is that human bodies simply wouldn’t be able to handle or control such immense power, resulting in widespread chaos.
This idea would make a great starting point for a future My Hero Academia story. The sequel wouldn’t even need a traditional villain; the overall threat to existence could be enough conflict for the new heroes. This approach could lead to a more mature and intense story, which could be a positive change. It would also give the series a chance to explore relevant real-world issues and further develop the My Hero Academia universe.
I’m curious what kind of My Hero Academia spinoffs people would find interesting. If you have any ideas, please share them in the comments below, and let’s discuss them over on the ComicBook Forum!
