As a huge fan of TV, I’m really excited about this new sci-fi series coming to FX in January 2026! They just dropped the first trailer, and it looks amazing. I’ve been following Ryan Murphy’s work for years – he’s a total powerhouse. I remember when he first broke out with Popular back on The WB in the 90s, and then Nip/Tuck on HBO was a big hit. But honestly, things really took off for him with Glee on Fox, and then American Horror Story on FX? That show is incredible and has been running for so many seasons, with all sorts of spin-offs too. I can’t wait to see what he does with this new series!
His latest series will debut on Netflix on January 21, 2016. Called The Beauty, it’s a science fiction horror show inspired by the comic book created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. The trailer, released by FX on December 22nd, gives viewers a sense of the show’s atmosphere and introduces the main characters.
The show boasts a strong cast, featuring many of Ryan Murphy’s regular collaborators, like Evan Peters, who’s previously worked with him on shows such as American Horror Story and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The ensemble also includes well-known actors like Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Ashton Kutcher, and Rebecca Hall. Isabella Rossellini appears in a recurring role as Franny Forst. It will be available on Disney+ worldwide at the same time.
The Beauty Expected to Be One of 2026’s Most Talked-About New Shows
The new series, The Beauty, explores themes common in Ryan Murphy’s other shows. Like American Horror Story, it delves into body image, obsession with looks, and the lengths people go to for success. This focus on appearance and ambition is also present in shows like Grotesquerie, his Monster series, and Pose. Ryan Murphy’s projects consistently draw a lot of viewers, and this one is no exception.
The new FX and Hulu series, The Beauty, premiered with its first three episodes on January 21st. New episodes will air weekly, culminating in a season finale on March 4th. The final two nights will each feature two episodes. The show centers on two FBI agents—played by Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall—investigating a dangerous new drug in Paris that promises instant beauty, but comes with horrifying side effects.
Ashton Kutcher plays the head of a powerful corporation who created a new drug, and Anthony Ramos is cast as his bodyguard, hired to protect the company’s interests. While the movie is adapted from a comic book, some viewers might see similarities to the recent film The Substance. The story appears visually striking and thought-provoking, which is typical of the director’s work. When The Beauty premieres on FX, audiences can anticipate a talkative series, regardless of whether it finds a wide audience.
Ryan Murphy has several projects in development, including the upcoming series Love Story, a romantic anthology starring Sarah Pidgeon and Naomi Watts, scheduled for release in 2026. Like his American Crime Story series, Love Story will draw inspiration from real events, with the first season focusing on the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. He’s also creating The Shards, based on Bret Easton Ellis’s novel, which is a fictionalized account of Ellis’s senior year of high school.
