5 Unconfirmed MCU Returns That Are Still 100% Guaranteed

The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to operate by the principle of ‘never say never.’ While Avengers: Endgame concluded with Earth’s heroes victorious and Captain America finding peace after returning the Infinity Stones and living out his life with Peggy Carter, it appears Cap will return in Avengers: Doomsday. This comeback feels unexpected, as there’s been no prior storyline to suggest his return – Marvel simply announced it with a teaser during a movie screening.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe potentially bringing back a retired character is great news for several heroes who haven’t had much to do recently. While their roles aren’t clear right now, it strongly suggests they’ll be important in future MCU stories. Here are five possible returns that seem very likely.

5) Galactus

For a long time, Marvel movies had a real problem with villains – they just didn’t survive the films! But things have definitely changed recently. We’re seeing more bad guys live to fight another day, which is interesting. Though, I have to say, one of them is definitely not in a good situation when they do. It sets up some potentially compelling conflicts down the line.

In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the planet Earth faces a huge threat when Galactus, known as the Devourer of Worlds, arrives and demands Franklin Richards. The Fantastic Four refuse, and cleverly use a portal to send Galactus far away across the galaxy, stripping him of his way home. Although this delays his return, they know he’ll eventually come back, and he’ll be even more determined to get what he wants.

4) Wolverine

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson is in serious trouble. A rebellious branch of the Time Variance Authority wants to erase his entire timeline, and he feels helpless to stop them. With no other options, Wade reaches out to the one person across the multiverse he believes can save him.

The Wolverine version recruited by Deadpool initially needs some encouragement, but once he steps up as a hero, he plays a key role in defeating Cassandra Nova and the TVA, ultimately helping to save the multiverse. Even with this heroic moment, Wolverine’s future with Marvel Studios is uncertain. They could include him in a future Avengers movie, or wait until the next Deadpool film to bring him back.

3) Spider-Man Variants

The conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home leaves Peter Parker completely alone. His friends have no memory of him, and with no family left, his enemies can’t use them as leverage. But the weight of being a hero isn’t just on Peter Parker from this universe alone.

Because Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were so well-received in No Way Home, Marvel Studios will likely bring them back for another film. Avengers: Secret Wars seems like the most probable choice, as it’s expected to include almost every Marvel character.

2) Mephisto

From the beginning, Ironheart hinted at someone secretly controlling The Hood. Considering it’s a Disney+ series, viewers likely expected this puppet master to be a minor character. However, the show surprised everyone by revealing Mephisto, a well-known and powerful Marvel villain, in the final episode.

Mephisto is a character in Marvel Comics famous for making deals, and he’s the one who originally created Ghost Rider. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he makes an agreement with Riri Williams (Ironheart) that’s likely to cause trouble for her. While a second season of Ironheart hasn’t been confirmed, many fans believe the MCU wouldn’t introduce Mephisto unless they had significant future plans for the character.

1) Blade

The movie Blade has faced more difficulties than any other Marvel Cinematic Universe project, and it’s currently uncertain if it will ever begin filming. However, the character doesn’t need a solo movie to still be significant within the MCU.

Okay, let me tell you, Wesley Snipes’ quick appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine is still being talked about – and it happened almost two years ago! It really got people thinking about Blade’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether it’s Snipes returning or Mahershala Ali taking over the role, it feels inevitable that we’ll see a fully realized Blade movie eventually. And honestly, all the vampires in the MCU should be a little worried – things are about to get interesting!
