James Cameron revolutionized big-budget movies with Avatar 16 years ago, and continued the story with The Way of Water three years ago. Now, the Avatar series takes a more intense and unpredictable turn with the new film, Avatar: Fire and Ash.
The newest Avatar movie, which came out in UK cinemas earlier this month, continues to build the world of Pandora. It introduces a new Na’vi clan called the Ash People, who are influenced by fire and volcanoes and have a more aggressive way of life.
As many predicted, “Fire and Ash” was a massive hit in 2025, becoming the top-grossing film worldwide leading up to the holidays. Its success has sparked discussion about whether director James Cameron can maintain audience interest over the course of the five movies he has planned.
Want to know when and where you can watch the movie at home? Here’s the information you need.
How to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash in the UK – is it streaming?
At the time of writing, Avatar: Fire and Ash is not yet available to stream in the UK.
The movie is now showing in theaters across the country, in all formats – including regular showings, IMAX, and other large-screen experiences, which the director recommends seeing if possible.
Following the release strategy of Avatar: The Way of Water, we anticipate that Fire and Ash will initially be available for digital purchase before becoming available on streaming services.
Once the movie is available to stream, it will most likely be on Disney+ since Disney now owns the Avatar franchise. However, an official release date for streaming hasn’t been announced yet.
Can you rent or buy Avatar: Fire and Ash digitally?

Not just yet.
As a movie critic, I’ve been checking for ways to watch ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ digitally here in the UK, and unfortunately, it’s not currently available to rent or buy on the usual platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, or Google Play. It seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for a digital release!
The movie is expected to be available online starting in early 2026. It will likely debut on premium streaming services, before becoming available to rent or buy.
Is Avatar: Fire and Ash still in cinemas?
Yes – and in a big way.
The movie came out in UK theaters on Friday, December 19th, 2025, and is predicted to stay in cinemas for a while after the new year. It’s doing well at the box office, and there aren’t many other major films being released in January.
If you’ve been waiting to experience this on the big screen, now’s still a great time to do it.
Will Avatar: Fire and Ash be released on DVD and Blu-ray?
While a physical copy hasn’t been officially announced, a DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD release is expected sometime in 2026.
Past Avatar movies had detailed home releases with extras like making-of footage and explanations of the film’s technology – and fans of James Cameron will likely expect the same for this new film.
Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer
Still on the fence about seeing the movie? The new trailer gives you a great look at the film’s fresh settings, different groups of people, and the growing tension – this time with fire and ash taking the place of the oceans and rainforests you’ve seen before.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is out now in cinemas.
