The anime series One Piece will take a break before new episodes air again next spring. Fans are now getting a preview of how the current story arc, Egghead, will conclude. Big changes are coming in 2025, as One Piece will no longer release new episodes every week. Starting in 2026, the show will switch to a seasonal format, with only 26 new episodes released annually.
With the anime adaptation of the Egghead Arc concluding in the final episode of 2025, fans will have to wait a significant amount of time for the next arc of One Piece. The Egghead Arc has been a particularly important storyline, leaving viewers with many questions about Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they head towards their next adventure at Elbaph. Toei Animation has released a preview of the Egghead Arc finale, which you can watch below.
When Does One Piece’s Season Finale Come Out?
The first season of One Piece is wrapping up with Episode 1155, which will air in Japan on December 28th. Fans can stream it on Crunchyroll, and shortly after on Netflix. The episode, titled “The Promised Horizon -Off to the Long-Awaited Elbaph!”, promises a fun-filled adventure as the Straw Hats join the Giant Pirate Crew for a feast and celebration. The promo hints at the crew setting sail towards the island they’ve been longing to reach, eager to begin a new journey.
This upcoming episode will conclude the current long-running production style of One Piece. From now on, the anime will be released seasonally, with 26 episodes per year. The creators plan to speed up the pace of each episode so they can cover roughly 1.5 chapters of the original manga, similar to how the story unfolds in the comics. However, it remains to be seen how this new approach will actually play out.
