Fans can soon stream DC Comics’ most unusual animated team-up after it was briefly taken off platforms. Warner Bros. Animation has created many popular DC animated movies and shows, and they always bring something special for comic book lovers. But one movie stands out – it unexpectedly combined the characters from a newer animated series with those from a beloved, older version, creating a really unique crossover.
HBO Max announced its January 2026 schedule, and a highlight is the movie Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans. This film brings together the original Teen Titans series and its more recent reboot for the first time, and will be available to stream on January 1st. Interestingly, the movie was previously on HBO Max but was taken down for a period of time.
What Is Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans?

The movie Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans came out on DVD and Blu-ray in 2019 and continues the story from the original Teen Titans series. Early on, Teen Titans Go! faced criticism for being very different from its predecessor. Fans had been hoping for a return to the original style, and a scene after the credits of Teen Titans Go to the Movies hinted that it might happen.
The original Teen Titans team attempted to announce their comeback, and it led to a unique movie crossover with the characters from Teen Titans Go!. The film was a journey through different universes where both teams had to cooperate, despite their vastly different styles of humor, action, and animation. It cleverly blended these styles and served as both a respectful nod to the original series and a continuation of the playful spirit of the newer show.
What Happened to This Crossover?

Fans were thrilled when the creators of Teen Titans Go! finally gave a nod to the original series, something they’d been requesting for a long time. While the show had playfully referenced the classic version in past episodes, this felt like a real treat for viewers – a chance to see the original style return when it seemed unlikely. This is especially significant considering Teen Titans Go! remains a popular and ongoing series on Cartoon Network.
Even with upcoming changes to the voice cast, Teen Titans Go! continues to be popular. This crossover highlights the debate among fans about how different the current show is from the original 2003 Teen Titans series. But if you enjoy both versions, you’ll likely have fun with this movie.
