How are you only going to release the LAST two games of a trilogy? Let me play the first game on Xbox!

As a dedicated gamer who’s been around the block more times than I care to count, I can’t help but feel a pang of frustration when it comes to the Cat Quest series. I was overjoyed when I discovered the delightful Cat Quest 3 on Xbox Series X, and eagerly snapped up Cat Quest 2 during a sale. But alas, my heart is heavy knowing that the first installment remains tantalizingly out of reach on my beloved console.

Get comfortable, everyone; let me share some thoughts that won’t take too long. I feel it’s important to express my opinion about one game that currently isn’t playable on Xbox consoles but deserves to be. After reviewing Cat Quest 3 on the Xbox Series X, I can confirm that it was an enjoyable experience playing this witty, accessible, and endearing RPG.

As an analyst, I too acquired Cat Quest 2 during a sale on my Xbox and am eager to explore the series in reverse order, given that while the stories are connected, they can be enjoyed independently. However, unfortunately, my Cat Quest journey will conclude with the second installment because the original Cat Quest is not playable on Xbox consoles at this time.

Cat Quest 2 and 3 are widely available across Windows PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. The first Cat Quest? Available everywhere, including mobile devices… but not Xbox. This is my official letter to The Gentlebros to fix this egregious mistake.

An awesome adventure, but incomplete on Xbox

Once I discovered the Cat Quest franchise, I felt compelled to give Cat Quest 3 a try. I even wanted to re-experience the earlier games in the series first, but unfortunately, the first game isn’t available on Xbox. Kepler Interactive has assured me that Cat Quest 3 can be fully enjoyed without playing the previous ones, but I still can’t help feeling let down since my preferred platform doesn’t have this charming RPG series in its entirety.

Indeed, I understand that I could play Cat Quest on various other devices, including mobile phones, but it’s not just about having the option to play the game. The problem lies in the fact that I can’t own the entire series on a single platform and collect all achievements or complete the games with the same account. I am keen to observe how the series has progressed over time and do so using the same controller for consistency.

It just feels odd for two out of three games in a trilogy to be available on Xbox. It’s like only watching two out of three Lord of the Rings films. Sure, you can probably make do without Fellowship of the Ring, but it’s always going to feel like something is missing. I do understand that the original Cat Quest was published by PQube, not Kepler Interactive, like the third entry, and I also understand that The Gentlebros is a very small, passionate group of developers undoubtedly already looking ahead to what’s next for Cat Quest.

Although there are currently no confirmed plans for the creators to release the first game in the charming RPG series on Xbox, I remain optimistic that they will eventually do so and complete the cycle. If a fourth installment of Cat Quest does materialize (and I’m quite certain it will, tying together the narratives of its predecessors), I hope it becomes available across all platforms. A Cat Quest Fursome Collection would be perfect for us fans!

Alright, let’s set aside my little rant. I recommend giving Cat Quest 3 a try! It’s genuinely one of the most enjoyable Xbox games of the year for those seeking a relaxing, entertaining journey, especially when played cooperatively with a friend.
