More news has come to light regarding the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
The director and photographer behind the film Spinal Tap died shortly after being stabbed multiple times at their Los Angeles home on December 14th, according to death certificates obtained by TopMob News on December 23rd.
Records show that Rob died within minutes of being stabbed. He was found at 3:45 p.m., and Michele, identified as his widow on her death certificate, was found just a minute later, at 3:46 p.m.
Death certificates showed the couple was cremated, and their ashes were kept at the home of their 34-year-old son, Jake Reiner.
It’s heartbreaking, but Rob and Michele Reiner’s son, Nick, was officially charged with their murders on December 16th. I was shocked to hear he’s facing two counts of first-degree murder, and because of the circumstances, the District Attorney said he could face life in prison without parole, or even the death penalty. It’s just a terrible tragedy, and I feel deeply for everyone involved.
Nick, who hasn’t entered a plea yet and is being represented by attorney Alan Jackson, is awaiting his court date. Meanwhile, his brother Jake and sister Romy Reiner, 27, recently revealed they were planning their parents’ funeral.
The family’s representative announced to People magazine on December 22nd that details about a memorial service for their parents will be shared when they are ready. Jake and Romy Reiner have expressed their gratitude for all the support and love they’ve received.

In a 2016 interview with People magazine, he shared that he had experienced homelessness in three different states: Maine, New Jersey, and Texas. He described spending nights and weeks living on the streets, and said it was a difficult time.
Two years later, Nick recalled an instance when he “wrecked” his home while high on drugs.

I remember hearing the news on December 14th – it was the day after our annual Christmas party. The LAPD was called to a house in Brentwood around 3:40 p.m. to investigate a death. It was truly shocking news, and I immediately felt awful for everyone involved.
According to a police statement, officers found two people inside the home who were later identified as Robert and Michele Reiner.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Division’s Homicide Special Section began investigating how the deaths occurred.
According to NBC News, Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton stated that investigators will be speaking with many family members. Rob Reiner and his wife have three children: Nick, Romy, and Jake. Rob also adopted the daughter of his late ex-wife, Penny Marshall, named Tracy Reiner.

Rob and Michele did not die from natural causes; they appeared to have been stabbed, according to a source close to the Reiner family who spoke with NBC News.
After a first look at the evidence, the LAPD announced that the Reiners had been murdered.

Around 9 p.m. on December 14th, while the police were investigating, Nick was caught on camera buying a Gatorade at an ARCO gas station in downtown Los Angeles, near USC. Footage obtained by MS NOW shows he was wearing a green jacket, jeans, and a ballcap, and carrying a red backpack.

As a dedicated follower of this case, I was surprised, but also somewhat relieved, to learn on December 16th that Alan Jackson—you might remember he’s represented some very high-profile clients like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Karen Read—has been brought on to defend Nick after his arrest in connection with his parents’ murder. It feels like Nick will have strong representation, and I’m eager to see how Jackson approaches this difficult case.

On December 16th, as authorities were preparing to publicly charge Nick at a Los Angeles courthouse, his lawyer informed the press that he hadn’t been given medical approval to attend the court hearing.
According to reports, the official stated that all inmates require medical approval before being taken to court. He expressed hope that the individual in question would receive this clearance by tomorrow, allowing for his transport.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m following this developing story closely. Just yesterday, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced that his office will be filing formal charges against Nick. He’s facing two counts of first-degree murder, and because of the nature of the case, they’re also adding the special circumstance of multiple murders to the charges. It’s a serious situation, and we’ll continue to follow it as it unfolds.
The District Attorney also stated that Nick will be charged with an additional allegation: that he used a knife – a dangerous weapon – during the attack on his parents.
He explained that if convicted, the charges could result in a life sentence with no chance of release, or potentially the death penalty.
Nick was formally charged Dec. 16.
