All New Mega Stones in the Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC & How to Get Them

While Pokemon Legends: Z-A didn’t introduce a whole new set of Pokemon, it’s brought a lot of new Mega Evolutions to the game. The original game added Mega Evolutions for 26 Pokemon, each requiring a special Mega Stone to unlock. The Mega Dimension DLC expands on this with 19 even more Mega Evolutions, meaning even more Mega Stones to find. Just like in the main game, there are several ways to obtain these new Mega Stones. If you’re aiming to Mega Evolve all your Pokemon, you might want some guidance on where to find them.

The Pokemon Legends: Z-A DLC introduces new Mega Stones, and there are two primary ways to obtain them. You can earn them by battling special Mega Evolved Pokemon that appear during Hyperspace Lumiose explorations, which happen after completing each survey mission. Additionally, some Pokemon will appear as optional Hyperspace Side Missions, and defeating them – often solo – will reward you with a Mega Stone. Here’s a guide to all the new Mega Stones from the Mega Dimension DLC and how to unlock them.

All Mega Stones Obtained From Rogue Mega Battles in Hyperspace Lumiose

To obtain the Mega Stones for these Pokémon, you’ll need to progress through specific parts of the new story, which will then unlock challenging Mega battles. Often, you’ll also have the opportunity to catch the Pokémon during these battles, allowing you to immediately use its Mega Evolution ability. The Mega Stones become available as you complete the Main Missions in the story, so they are listed in the order you’ll encounter them.

  • Absolite Z (Mega Absol Z) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 01
  • Staraptite (Mega Staraptor) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 02
  • Tatsugirinite (Mega Tatsugiri) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 03
  • Meowsticite (Mega Meowstic) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 04
  • Heatranite (Mega Heatran) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 05
  • Darkranite (Mega Darkrai) – Rogue Mega Battle after completing Hyperspace Survey 06 and making the Bad Dreams Crueller donut

All Mega Stones Obtained Through Mega Dimension Side Missions & Wild Zone Encounters

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension, you’ll encounter powerful Mega Evolutions in Side Mission portals leading to Hyperspace Lumiose, or as random encounters in the wild. These “Rogue Megas” are challenging, but you’ll face them without help from Korrina or her partners, Urbain and Taunie. Here’s a list of all the Mega Stones you can get through Side Missions or random encounters. Since many appear randomly, they’re listed alphabetically to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

  • Chimechite (Mega Chimecho) – Defeat Mega Chimecho as a random Wild Encounter in a Hyperspace Wild Zone. Look for the “Unidentified Mega Stone” message
  • Crabominite (Mega Crabominable) – Battle the two Mega Crabominable found via the Side Mission 101 Hyperspace Distortion
  • Glimmoranite (Mega Glimmora) – Defeat Mega Glimmora as a random Wild Encounter in a Hyperspace Wild Zone. Look for the “Unidentified Mega Stone” message
  • Golisopite (Mega Golisopd) – Defeat Mega Golisopite in a random Wild Encounter in Hyperspace Wild Zones. Look for the “Unidentified Mega Stone” message
  • Golurkite (Mega Golurk) – Defeat Mega Golurk in a random Wild Encounter in Hyperspace Wild Zones. Look for the “Unidentified Mega Stone” message

  • Magearnite (Mega Magearna) – Talk to Jett at Quasartico Inc. and complete Side Mission 195 (available after completing all Hyperspace Missions in the DLC). This mission also gives you a Level 80 Magearna that you can Mega Evolve using the stone.
  • Raichunite X (Mega Raichu X) – Battle the Raichu duo via Hyperspace Side Mission 139
  • Raichunite Y (Mega Raichu Y) – Battle the Raichu duo via Hyperspace Side Mission 139
  • Scovillainite (Mega Scovillain) – Defeat Mega Scovillain in a random Wild Encounter in Hyperspace Wild Zones. Look for the “Unidentified Mega Stone” message

Mega Stones Available Only Via Ranked Battles & Future Releases

Currently, you can only get one of the new Mega Evolution items – Baxcalibrite – by playing and winning in Ranked Battles within Pokemon Legends: Z-A. During Season 4, you’ll need to reach S Rank to unlock the ability to Mega Evolve Baxcalibur. Keep in mind that the required rank and how to get the item might change in future Ranked Battle seasons.

Right now, you can’t obtain a Garchompite Z. However, it’s expected that this item, used to Mega Evolve Garchomp, will become available in the future, possibly through Ranked Battles or as a special gift, like how Diancie and Mewtwo were distributed.

Okay, fellow Pokémon fans, I’m dying to know – if you could only pick one Mega Stone from the Mega Dimension DLC, which one would it be? Seriously, I need to hear your thoughts! Let’s chat about it over on the ComicBook Forum – come join the discussion!
