Additionally, he hosts the National Geographic docuseries “Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.” Earlier this year, it was announced that the series would be returning for a second season on Disney+, and a recent taping took him to an extraordinary location. This week, during an Ed Sheeran concert at Romania’s National Arena, Hemsworth made a surprise appearance.

What Is Transformers One About?

On the planet Cybertron, the movie “Transformers One” tells an unspoken tale about young Optimus Prime and Megatron. At that time, they weren’t yet enemies as leaders of opposing robot groups, the Autobots and Decepticons; rather, they were comrades-in-arms named Orion Pax (Hemsworth) and D-16 (Henry). Their actions forever altered the destiny of their planet. As they worked together in the deep parts of Cybertron managing waste, they encountered B-127 (Key), also known as Bumblebee, and Ariel (Scarlett Johansson), known as Elita-1. Together, they set off on a perilous journey to the planet’s surface world.

The star-studded voice cast includes Jon Hamm (Mad Men) as Sentinel Prime, Steve Buscemi (Transformers: The Last Knight) in an undisclosed villain role, and Laurence Fisburne (The Matrix) as Alpha Trion — sworn protector of Vector Sigma, the mega-computer at the heart of Cybertron — who unlocks the Transformers’ full potential, giving the ‘bots the ability to transform. The new movie comes from Paramount Animation (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run), Hasbro Entertainment (Transformers: EarthSpark), and New Republic Pictures (The Tiger’s Apprentice).

Director Josh Cooley shared that their version of the Transformers origin maintains the franchise’s established lore, and Optimus Prime’s backstory in this first-ever CG animated Transformers movie will be unique and unprecedented on screen. He clarified that while it isn’t a direct prequel to the live-action films, it stands independently as its own story.

Transformers One opens only in theaters on September 20th.
