I was a bit surprised to hear the news about the new Avatar movie. Fans were really expecting to see an adult Aang on the big screen, but Paramount announced it’s going straight to their streaming service, Paramount+, on October 9th of next year. While it’s a letdown that it won’t be in theaters, at least we know some of the actors who will be involved: Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Peta Sergeant, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan are all signed on. It’s a shame all this talk about the release date seemed to overshadow any details about what the movie is actually about.
I’m so excited about the new Avatar Studios movie! From what The Hollywood Reporter is saying, it’s going to center around Aang discovering this incredible ancient power – something that could actually save the Air Nomads from disappearing forever. Apparently, he and his friends will be racing around the world to find it, because if it falls into the wrong hands, everything they fought for could be undone. We don’t know what this power is yet, which is super intriguing, but it definitely gives us a good idea of what an older Aang will be up to when the movie comes out next year!
Avatar Bends Away From Theaters
Jane Wiseman, head of original series for Paramount+, shared some exciting news about the future of the Avatar franchise. She announced that the upcoming The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and a new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, will continue the epic storytelling fans love. Wiseman emphasized that Paramount+ is the only place to stream the animated Avatar world, and these new shows, along with The Legend of Korra and the original series, demonstrate the platform’s commitment to delivering exciting adventures and heartfelt stories with a talented cast and crew. Paramount+ aims to be the ultimate destination for fans of the animated Avatar Universe.
So far, we haven’t seen any previews of the upcoming Legend of Aang series. However, fans have seen what an adult Aang looks like in action before. The sequel series, The Legend of Korra, featured flashbacks showing Aang’s life after he defeated the Fire Lord. Although some fans are disappointed the new series won’t be released in theaters, there’s still a lot to be excited about within the Nickelodeon universe.
In addition to the upcoming Avatar: Seven Havens, a second season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is planned for next year, continuing Aang’s journey and the fight against Ozai. The series has already been renewed for a third season to complete the story, demonstrating its strong popularity with viewers after many years since the original show first aired.
