5 Forgotten MCU Characters Who Need To Return (And Where They Might Show Up)

It’s hard to say what’s next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the upcoming Avengers movies. The franchise, one of the biggest in the world, seems to be at a turning point, and its future creative direction isn’t clear. While Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are expected to launch a “new beginning,” it’s still uncertain where the series will go from there.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands, it’s important to remember the compelling characters who only appeared briefly in a single movie or show. These characters made a strong first impression, and it would be great to see them return. No matter what new stories the MCU tells, these often-forgotten characters deserve another chance to shine.

5) Doc Samson (from The Incredible Hulk)

With Captain America: Brave New World and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, most of the key characters and storylines from the original Incredible Hulk movie have been revisited after 17 years. The one major exception is Doc Samson (played by Ty Burrell), who was a love interest for Betty Ross. While he’s a powerful hero in Marvel comics, the MCU hasn’t used his character since his initial appearance.

Considering all the interesting storylines Doc Samson has had in the comics, it’s time for him to reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe he could show up in a future Spider-Man film, perhaps alongside Bruce Banner and the Hulk? It feels unfair that everyone else from The Incredible Hulk movie has returned, but Doc Samson hasn’t had a chance yet. He deserves to be included!

4) Madisynn King (from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law)

While not all the humor in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law landed perfectly, Madisynn King (played by Patty Guggenheim) was a standout character. Her carefree attitude and constant martini, even amidst superhero chaos, were consistently funny. With the MCU’s recent focus on the multiverse, everyday people haven’t been featured much, making Madisynn a refreshing presence. It would be great to see her reappear in bigger projects like Avengers: Doomsday, and Patty Guggenheim deserves more than just a single appearance in the MCU.

3) Furry Face (from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania)

Early in 2025, a character named Fuzzy Face from the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania unexpectedly became a social media sensation. Many found it funny that he received his own promotional poster, considering most people didn’t even remember him being in the film. In Quantumania, Fuzzy Face is one of the many strange rebels trying to defeat Kang the Conqueror, but he doesn’t speak, has no distinct personality, and appears on screen for only a very brief moment.

This makes him a versatile and intriguing character with a lot of potential. Future Marvel projects – whether short films, TV shows, or movies – could creatively incorporate him in many ways, as either a surprising villain or a source of heartwarming humor. As the character poster playfully suggested, ‘Fuzzy Face’ is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and creators should definitely explore what he can bring to the story.

2) Karun Patel (from Eternals)

Harish Patel’s character, Karun Patel – Kingo’s valet – provided a welcome bit of relatable humor in the otherwise godlike world of Eternals. Patel’s comedic timing was excellent, making it disappointing when his character disappeared during the film’s final act. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe appearing to move away from the Eternals storyline, it seems unlikely we’ll see Karun Patel return. However, upcoming projects like Wonder Man, which will focus on the film industry, could offer a perfect opportunity to bring back an entertainment-world character like his.

1) Rhomann Dey (Guardians of the Galaxy)

Before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos destroyed the planet Xandar while searching for an Infinity Stone. Surprisingly, Rhomann Dey, a memorable character from Nova Corp and played by John C. Reilly, wasn’t included in that movie. In fact, he hasn’t appeared in any Marvel Cinematic Universe projects since 2014, even though Reilly is a talented actor and the MCU frequently explores space-based stories. With no current plans for another Guardians of the Galaxy film or a Nova TV series, it seems unlikely Rhomann will return soon. However, bringing back this likable character for future large-scale events like Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars would be a smart move, considering his role in important past MCU storylines.
