7) Murderbot Season 1

Based on Martha Wellsâ 2017 novel All Systems Red, Murderbot features Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd as the main character, a security robot who becomes self-aware but keeps it secret while completing risky missions. Created by Paul and Chris Weitz (known for About a Boy and Cracking Up), the series skillfully combines action and comedy, and explores interesting ideas about artificial intelligence and the economic system. Murderbot stays true to the spirit and humor of Wellsâ original story, and fans are eagerly awaiting the next season.
6) Alien: Earth Season 1

Noah Hawleyâs Alien: Earth, the first TV series in the Alien franchise, had a lot to prove, and it succeeded. Taking place two years before the original 1979 Alien film, the show brought the terrifying Xenomorph to Earth for the very first time and added some compelling new layers to the story. With impressive visual effects, high-quality production, and strong writing and direction, the series cleverly expanded the Alien universe, creating a rich and detailed world that viewers will be excited to see continue in the confirmed second season.
5) Cassandra

In 2025, few sci-fi shows have been as gripping as Cassandra, a Netflix series created by German writer Benjamin Gutsche. The show centers on a family who moves into a house thatâs been empty for half a century, cared for by Cassandra (Lavinia Wilson), a strikingly advanced AI. Cassandra expertly combines psychological drama, horror, and compelling characters, which explains its perfect 100
4) Andor Season 2

Beyond being a top sci-fi show of 2025, the second season of Andor is often hailed as one of the best entries in the entire Star Wars saga. Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor in this prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andor is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful series, cleverly woven into the larger Star Wars universe. Itâs disappointing that the show wonât continue, as its excellent storytelling, mature themes, and strong performances make it a truly exceptional sci-fi experience.
3) Stranger Things Season 5

As a huge sci-fi fan, I can tell you that even just four episodes into the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, itâs already a top contender for the best show of 2025. Itâs been nearly a decade since we first met these characters, and this first part of the season feels like it’s perfectly setting up a fantastic conclusion to the Duffer brothersâ incredible series. Right away, the action grabs you â Hopper’s facing a seriously dangerous situation, Holly’s been pulled into Vecnaâs terrifying world, and Will is discovering some amazing new abilities. Season 5 continues the showâs amazing storytelling, and honestly, Iâm on the edge of my seat waiting for the final four episodes to drop!
2) Pluribus

Apple TV+’s Pluribus, a surprising success from the creator of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, quickly became a hit when it premiered in November. It broke viewership records and became the most-watched original series on streaming in the U.S. during its first week. The show centers around Carol Sturka (played by Rhea Seehorn), one of the few people unaffected by an alien virus that connects everyone into a single, peaceful, and optimistic hive mind â a phenomenon called âthe Joining.â Pluribus explores thought-provoking ideas about societal expectations of happiness and humanityâs natural tendency towards pessimism, all while featuring a standout performance by Seehorn in this unique and genre-defying series.
1) Severance Season 2

Although Pluribus attracted a large audience for Apple TV, Severance has truly captured the publicâs imagination and become a major talking point. The second season of Dan Ericksonâs captivating mystery series, released in January 2025, follows Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly R. (Britt Lower), and the other employees of the mysterious Lumon Industries. Season 2 is full of surprising turns, significant discoveries, and exciting scenes, all while exploring what it means to be human, the complexities of relationships, and thought-provoking, dreamlike scenarios.
